read it here (http://cars.ign.com/articles/631/631159p1.html)

Mazda\'s 3 is one bitchin\' ride

Of course, with the wagon, everything looks \"proper\" and \"proportionate\". Babe-editor-at-large and rotary junkie Jeff Hall prefers the sedan, but he\'s on crack, so his opinion doesn\'t really matter. :D :D :D lol proper..

\"zoom-zoom drive\", because you press the \"zoom-zoom\" pedal and the \"zoom-zoom\" engine makes the car go \"zoom-zoom\". Did we mention that we hate the whole \"zoom-zoom\" campaign? Okay... just checking. lol

The older folks would call the Mazda 3\'s ride \"harsh and bumpy\". We call it \"just right\".

I don\'t know if that\'s a \"good\" thing, winter it\'s better, but most race cars have back wheel drive. Better control on a turn

I tend to disregard articles that can\'t even be edited correctly,

What is a Mazda Protoge5?
I\'ve heard of Protege5 but not Protoge! LOL

While we like the look of the Mazda 3, we still prefer the look of the old Protoge5. But as the Protoge5 is no longer in production

I\'ve always wanted to know this. For the 3 with tri-mode dash thing...what does that actually mean? Let me know if i got these right...

When your car is turned off and you have any door open...your guages look like this?
http://media.cars.ign.com/media/758/758289/img_2892497.html

When you are driving at night, your guage look like this with the little blue around the red?
http://media.cars.ign.com/media/758/758289/img_2892509.html

When you are driving during the day, your guages look like this with only yellow??

correct except the middle pic is when the headlights are on (whether through auto or manual on) also, the last one is orange/red but i\'m sure that\'s what you meant..

the other \'mode\' they might be referring to is what you see in pic 2 BUT the red is MUCH brighter (same brightness as pic 3. This helps you to see the cluster when it\'s relatively light out yet you are driving with your headlights ON (otherwise it\'s a little dim and hard to read out)

there are only 2 tones red and blue.. i referred to it as red/orange b/c you referred to it as yellow :) anyway.. to recap

headlights on (manual or auto): red with blue backlight [you can also press the left button on the cluster and make the red super bright]
headlights OFF: red only [if you hit that left button a few times it gives you different degrees of ilumination from dim to bright]
car off, doors open: just the blue backlight
