Dude you\'ve had one productive week off!! You should open a business painting calipers and making shift boots (btw i need one! so put me on top of the list):p

You painting your calipers inspired me to get off my ass and do the same so I painted them on sat! Now I\"ve gotta make a shift boot too... you\'re my hero!

Looks great, How did you make the pattern? Did you just eyeball it or did you measure from the stock one? I have a short shifter so I\'m not sure how much shorter I want it.

Thanks...Blush;) I used the old one as a template and made a pattern. Which now I can trace and cut out on any type of material.
I had more free time today...:)...and made another boot. This one is actually shorter than stock.
The batteries are dead right now in my cam, I should have pics of it around 8 ish. I kinda like the new one better becuase it is not as bulky as my first try, the first one leather is super thick (2mm).

I am in the process of trying to hook myself up with some more leather. I might be able to get deerskin which would be cool because it is really soft.

I like the second one more too - exactly the same reason - looks less bulky. not sure if I like the perforatation..but it looks less shiny than the first which I like too...good job on both though! where do you get leather??

kinda off topic here but how the hell do you get to the shifter boot...when they replaced my carpetting the guy took apart the center console in seconds but i didnt see how...i called them and they said its near the armrest...thats all they said, so im not sure...there are two screws at the bottom of the armrest but i dont think that would be it... thnx

hmmm. lets see if I remember correctly... Unscrew the shift knob..open ashtray lid and remove the tray...grab the front of the shifter bezel and gently pull up. It should lift up, it is attached to the storage bin (cupholder), just kinda wiggle it and it will seperate.
I believe thats it.....

That looks great!!!! I like the black as opposed to the grey but good job!! If required can you make the stitching yellow instead of blue??

ummm, not really. Not easy to get the good leather..
Might make a few with fake leather stuff. Smaller though and not so bulky

Oh, put me down on the list too!
Black deerskin with blue stitching would be great buddy ;)

But you really should make some :), your work looks awesome and you could make yourself a bit of cash too!

Not to steal Sabio\'s thunder, but I am actually going to be making some shift boots for some members of TOProtege in the next little while, and I wanted to let you all know that I can make boots for the 3 as well. I didn\'t want to step on Sabio\'s toes, so I checked with him but he isn\'t planning to mass-market these. All the info is in the H&H thread -----> http://torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=4759&page=2#79512
