Engine Knock

Just recently i\'ve noticed at idle that my engine is making a little knocking sound. Only at idle this sound is present. I was wondering if anyone had knocking problems with their 3. Im sure mazda will claim \"everything is to spec\" but im not so sure it is. i use regular gas and thats what this car should be taking, ill try switching to a higher octane and see if that helps a little. ANyone have this loud idle knock on their 3?

I still have a rough idle, but no knocking *knocks on wood*

you are doing the right thing though. I would try the higher octane and if it stops then that means the car is running too rich and should take it in. might just need a timing adjustment or some parts changed (maybe a worn belt or two)
