Engine Buzzing Sound

I don\'t know if that was here before, but I\'m hearing some high pitch buzzing sound from my engine. I opened up my hood to see what it was, so you have the engine shaking sound, and on the left (where you see all the spinning belts and stuff) you can hear this high pitch buzz. You guys have that in your car?

Could it be the power steering? I know it\'s quite common on the 3\'s to hear it, though as far as I know it doesn\'t come and go.

I assume you\'re not referring to the power steering as you have stepped out of the car and looking at the engine?

wtom, I hear the sound all the time, regardless of whether or not the steering wheel is being turned or not......as long as the car is on I can hear it, though it\'s much more evident when the wheel is being used.

it could be the alternator... It\'s generating electricity when the belts are running, so that could be it.

I am getting this noise too and my car is a 2007 GT...

It is a high pitch sound that is there even at idle.. It is located around the engine coolant area.

Anyone know what this sound is??

the spark plugs being ignited?

You can't actually hear the spark plugs ignighting.. if anything you would hear the valves clicking.

It sounds like some kind of pump. I am just wondering if other people hear it too. I know the power steering pump is electric, designed to draw less power from the engine, but I am not sure if it makes this kind of noise.

It's your power steering pump. It's normal.

i only hear my steering pump when I turn the wheel
so is my car messed? since some of u hear it all the time

Is that because it is an electric pump and not hydraulic?

I have that same noise too and it's annoying. What can we do to fix it!
