Has anyone installed the OEM replacement K&N Air Filter? Curious if you noticed any gains with the gas mileage..(and lets be honest...better air flow over the stock paper one) Im not really interested in putting a CAI in the car but with the Km\'s I drive everyday a few extra km\'s on a tank would be nice. Thanks all...

I put one in about a month and half ago. The only thing I\'ve noticed is slightly better throttle response, a little deeper sound at higher rpms and a small increase in mpg. Be warned, you won\'t notice any difference in performance and after awhile you will forget you have one in. But I guess from an economic point of view, its worthwhile since you can clean/re-oil it instead of buying a new OEM filter.

hey RedRaptor..Thanks for the info..not really looking at it from a performance perspective, but appreciate the comment. I\'ve got about 5200km on mine, how many Km did you have on yours when you installed it? When you say slight increase in mpg..are you talking 5-10 or more..thanks again.

I put the drop in K&N filter in my car with about 25,000 km and noticed a little improvement with fuel mileage, but I don\'t really keep track of it. I averaged about 500-530km with my 2.3L and I don’t really take it easy on the throttle either. But now I have the K&N CAI and I am looking to sell my old drop in filter. If you are interested and live around the Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge/Guelph area PM me and I will let it go for 30 bucks. It has about 15,000km on it. Still looks good and does not needing a cleaning or re-oiling.

I have 1 and noticed a slight increase in gas milage.
Doesn\'t make too much difference sound wise unless in higher rpms.

I am going to be buying a CAI soon so I\'ll be selling mine.
Been on my car only for a month, anyone want?

Can you just pick one up at Canadian Tire? Is this easy to put in?

I got mine at Canadian Tire for ~$68. I put it in my car at 3000km. The only reason I got it was to save some money of not having to replace a new each time time it is dirty. My car is now at 7000km and I haven\'t notice any milage or performance improvements at all. As a matter of fact, My gas milage is getting progressively worse. from 3000km to 5500km my average was about 9.6L/100km, my last three fill ups were over 10L/100km with the last one at 10.7L/100km. This is with 50% highway dirver and my driving pattern have not changed sice I got the car.

Hey All,

Installed the filter this week, CDN Tire had them on sale, only think I can say really changed was the idle was ALOT smoother. Step on it and the engine seems more responsive and does sound alittle more aggresive. (no where near what a CAI sounds obviously) But well worth the install..

Thanks for the input.

I ordered mine from Canadian Tire on Sept. 10th and FINALLY got it on Sept. 21st ($52-something with tax). After reading the other posts, I guess I was a little too eager to swap mine (just 1500 kms). The results were what I expected... smoother idling and improved throttle response. I was averaging 10.2 L/100 with the stock filter, I haven\'t used up a full tank of gas since the swap so I\'ll check the difference soon. I\'d like to upgrade to a CAI next year, hopefully AEM will start rolling out the 06s soon.
