hmm,
i THINK these cars are about the same in terms of \"level\"/type of car. which 1 would you choose?
from what i can tell, the altima is definitely faster and bigger. after my 3\'s lease is over (still 1 year and a couple months) im thinking of getting a bigger car around 30-35k after taxes
lol why do i think people are going to say the 6 =p.
but yes opinions needed thx!
EDIT: i drove my friends 3.5s and it was retardly fast lol. 250hp\\249 torque though it gets it all at like 4-5k in the rpm. it has traction control but apparently it doesnt seem to matter lol

Of the two, I would say the 6.....having owned one for a couple of years I really enjoyed the car. It looks nicer, has a pretty good interior, and the motors are rock solid as compared to the ones offered in the Altima. The 6 Sport also has loads of room on the inside with it being a hatch and all. To be honest though I suspect that in a years time both cars may be on the verge of a re-design (if it hasn\'t happened already).

Oh yeah, I forgot about that post.:p
I would go for the base Mazdaspeed6 over the Altima 3.5 any day. The 6 GT is a bit underpowered imo.

if you don\'t need a V6, Legacy GT 2.5L Turbo w/250hp

The Altima is cheaper, gets better milage, has more power, has more head room, has more leg room.
I thought of getting a 6 but when I found the 3 more roomier up front. (less in the back but who cares)
You want a bigger car right! Why buy a the same car all over again.
How about the Dodge Charger :) Big car. Dodge Magnum....
What about the Accord V-6 LX Sedan 5spd-AT Couple grand cheaper. More room everywhere front and back. More power, better milage..
How about the Chrysler 300.. Thats a sweet car too. And Big!

Uh, I had a 6 for two years and can tell you that it is by far more roomy up front than the 3 in nearly every respect (width, legroom, etc.), and not only is the back seat larger, but the trunk is nearly double the size to boot (pun intended ;).

I guess we agree to disagree :) I sat in both (more than once) and the 3 was way more comfortable and easier to get in and out of. For me (6\'5\") the ergonomics of the 3 made it feel roomier and more comfortable. I guess you can\'t always rely on a manufacturers tape measure:)

Go for the new camry, nice and big but probably pricy. But it\'s reliable.

the mazda 6 V6 auto is just a tiny bit faster than the I4 version (manual). So it IS underpowered, but tires still slip in the rain.
I argee with billyfo, check out the legacy GT. doesn\'t hurt taking a test drive.
edit: having worked at Toyota head office, the quality is not as good as everyone thinks it is. Don\'t get me wrong, its reliable, but you might be disappointed.
Examples: Camry muffler got a hole, after driving in gravel, it was a couple lived in rural area.
2 of 4 cylinders stopped working in my friend\'s corolla.
Of course, there are other people who drives it for 200-300K KM without problems but don\'t be shocked if ur toyota has problems.

When I think of Toyota I think of overpriced cars that get good gas milage and just keep on going and going and going..... I never thought Toyota had good quality:)

hmm legacy ehhh. most subaru\'s have bnoring interiors. and the exterior of the legacy looks kind of boring to me. not boring but not exciting, somewhere in the middle

i\'d say that the duratec 3.0L V6 has a ways to go when compared with the VQ. the VQ family of engines has been on Ward\'s Automotives 10 Best Engine list since its (the VQ30DE) inception in 94-95. it was the smoothest V6 out there and was on-par with the inline-6s from BMW in terms of smoothness.
I\'ve got friends with maximas approaching 300,000km ...another one is boosted with a vortech s/c and no work done to the internals of the engine. none of them has had any issues related to the engine.
the VQ35 in the altima powers near everything in the nissan family, including many infiniti vehicles ...in terms of being rock solid, putting all their eggs in the VQ35 basket is a testament to that.
having said all that, i\'d go with the Legacy GT with the 2.5L turbo. :) with a few mods, it can be made stupid fast.
the mazdaspeed6 sounds good, but check out some of the issues with regards to \"loss of power\" on them ...if you don\'t use 93+ octane gas in it, the car will kill boost after 4200rpm after it senses knock (this also due to the intercooler being on top of the engine and being heat soaked). when the ECU cuts the boost above 4200rpm, you\'re looking at anywhere from 40-100hp loss. the way people have been working around it is to shut off the car and restart it so that the ecu takes it out of \"protection\" mode (or mix the 93+ with 100+ octane...but try finding a gas station with 100+ octane).

Before I got my 3 I was considering the Altima, the only thing that stopped me was the money for the SE. Like Majestic said, the VQ engines are solid. How much do they want for the SE-R version?
The 2007 Camry looks great too and reliable for damn sure. Don\'t know how they\'ll ride tho, but certainly worth a look.
