I\'m looking for a replacement for my current FM transmitter. I\'m looking in the < $60 range which I believe is completely reasonable for a good FM transmitter.

The problem with my current transmitter is that I find there isn\'t enough stereo separation. The current one I own is a old on I bought back when I was un iniversity it lacks the PLL curcuitry to prevent drift when the unit heats up.

I\'m looking for some recommendations, it would also be nice if it can tune digitally cause I\'m tured of adjusting dials. Additionally if you can list the power raiting that woud totally be awsome. My current unit is a 30mw (aka 10 feet).

I have this one (http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=FMTransmitters&product= 1219525)
and it seems to work pretty well. Figured if I need better sound quality, I\'d have to tinker with more wirings.

Dont know much about FM Modulators, but if its stricktly for Car use, get the PIE solution. It costs a bit more, but its better sound. Much better than FM Quality. :)

I was thinking of going iriver since my player\'s already an iriver and I quite enjoy their products. Alternatively if flip will get back to me regarding if there is a CD/MP3 for the Mazda3 06\' I might go that route.

PIE solution would be great, but I\'m just so busy (read lazy). I used mine on the home system as well so it suffice.

Notice the one from canada computers is only for car...you might want to consider the PIE solution.

Well I don\'t see removing happening.

Anyways the quailty of any posts is a direct reflection of the contributors. Just so happens in this case no one except the first 2 posters wanted to contribute anything useful. No matter I wanted this removed because I don\'t want future newb\'s to be intimidated.

If you really want to get uncivil and start with the personal attacks just send me a PM, leave it off the forum. You know what guys you can try point out that I\'m a newb all you want this newb ain\'t going to become a seasoned vet overnight. This is a very useful place for local info and I\'m not at all disturbed or offended by your direct shots....

So batter up

Edit: So it seems you guys have been reading my blog. Strange nothing better to do I guess, well I better remove that URL then since it seems you guys have been using it to derive personal attacks. I sort of expected more, anyways that has been fixed and if you still choose to dig around in my personal life then go right ahead just remember that you should feel dirty, very dirty.

Vortex-5, I agree with you and I do not want to feel stupid for a post that is already up. I have searched the site many times without good results so I go ahead and post a new topic.

As for the FM transmitter, I tried last summer many different brands but no \'clear\' luck so I broke down and bought the adapter/pie for the cd changer and standard headphone jack for the ipod. I also have a Cell phone holder from Home Depot to attach the ipod within reach. Which is currently on the drivers side vent.

Also purchased a power inverter (canadian tire) to charge will on the go.

Actually I guess I should\'ve updated but I guess I forgot about this post after what I initially veiwed as attacks anyways.

A friend of mine turned out had an iRiver FM transmitter so I just asked to borrowed it. Since I was already talking with Jeff at Lockdown but was aprehensive about drilling my car for the PIE I decided to bring my car to my friends place and test out the transmitter before I commit to a PIE solution.

Turns out the iRiver blew my misconception of FM transmitters far out of the water. I was very impressed when we turned the unit off and realized that there was actually an FM station at the channel we were using and the FM transmitter was simply powerful enough to drown it out. I\'m not going to turn this into a I love iRiver thread but I went ahead to buy one and I have not regretted the purchase.

If you were thinking these things suck it might be in your benefit to try one with a return policy. But I agree with all of you that a PIE solution is just much cooler. Jeff told me that he could put one into the centre arm rest storage box just like how they do it in Lexus (how cool is that).

Guess I chickened out with my car being only 2.5 months old.
