mishap putitng back on summers

nice to say bye bye to the steelies

well, i accidently broke one of the wheel locks
ie, the top came off!
came = broke
so . . .

will this be a problem, ie, can the wheel lock be taken of with some kind of gator grip
tool or something?

the lock probably wasn\'t flushed with the threads before you torqued (is that even a word??) it..

sorry to hear.. is it possible to use something simple like a pair of pliers or an adjustable wrench to grab ahold of the outer edges?? it\'s a long shot though..

or I think Canadian Tire has some sort of socket set where the head has all these little metal spikes inside the head of the socket.. so you press it down on something the spikes will retract leaving the other spikes to get a good grip around whatever it is you\'re trying to take off.. it\'s suppose to be used on rounded bolts and stuff I think.. I hope you know what I\'m talking about.. I haven\'t seen those commercials in a while though..

Bring it to your dealer. Maybe they used an impact wrench on your locks during service.

Which is a big no no!

that sucks.

to take it off, find a socket that either barely fits (fits with some force) or is a millimeter or 2 smaller than the remaining wheel lock part. hammer the socket over the wheel lock. now try to remove the wheel lock by turning the socket with a socket wrench with enough leverage.

this may end up ruining the socket.

Sounds like you are going to have to get the briken nut drilled out. This happened to my wife at Acura, they ended up paying for it because they used an impact wrench and broke 2 of her wheel locks.

i always tell shops not to use an impact gun on the locks!

yeah it is completely rounded . . .
the lock is a cylinder in shape and that is what is left
lol
