Disappointed (http://torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=5903&page=1)

And we want to grow as a club? :sarc :(

Just ignore certain people if they get on your tits.....or use the flaming thread. Please don\'t introduce new members to this pretty regular and rather childish bickering.

Just my 2c

I agree with you SourcE,

i admit, i am one to throw in a joke, or off topic remark here and there, but i am never mean!,
there are sometimes some very strong opinions on here and when i see a thread like that one, i tend to butt out!

i tottaly agree, the flame thread is to bitch and moan.
keep major arguing there, a few jokes in other threads is ok!

we need to get things going, mods need to step in there and warn people and tell them to take it to PM or if they want to do it public use the flame thread!

time to get things going in the right direction!!!

Serious Broli Out!

Well we can do it like TOP. We can have 1 mod in charge for each section.

IE. majic for buy/sells
bluntman for general
flipspeed for technical
etc....

majic already editted the unacceptable posts.
there are pricks everywhere, school, work or forums.
nothing you can really do to stop them but ignore them.

good job majic!

enjoy the praise . . .u seldom get it from me . . .

lol!!

Pearly is right!

we need mods to be responsible for certain sections,
but when board members notice smtg going bad . . .
they should perhaps contact a mod!

its not telling, it helping the community

lets face it, the mods, are human, well most of them, majic is probably half human half machine
so they can miss stuff as well!

this week i am opinionated Broli!!

lol

but . . .
i think we need my loud mouth right now!

Well with this thread, and some of the points made in the Restructuring thread, I think that all the mods, myself included are going to be more strict on some of the comments.

The only place we\'ll be a little more lenient is in the Lounge.

How about establishing rules. Like no mama jokes, for those that have kids that may be around while daddy is on TM3, no pornographic material like the pic of Spock caressing some chicks boobs that someone left on my thread, which was nothing to do with Spock, Star Trek or boobs. Its things like that, that make the forum cheap. If we keep civil, then people will think of the club and forum as something legit, vs a mama-bashing jokster website.

plus PG-13 avatars and signatures..

who decides on this though? xenon? the mods? i don\'t want to be \'cocky\' and dictate all of this but i\'m sick of seeing T \'n A everywhere, TOP styles.. maybe some bosses are lenient but i don\'t want to test those waters!!!

You can always turn off the avatars and sigs.

As much as I like broli\'s sig, :p I wouldn\'t want the boss to walk by and see it on my screen.

I don\'t agree with banning this stuff, just keep it in the Lounge... ;)

I have to agree. I won\'t read TOP while at work. I just won\'t take a chance.

I don\'t have a problem with the mods/admin coming up with standard protocol with respect to discipline and how you present your signatures/avatars. I don\'t think my freedom of expression is going to be curtailed because I can\'t post a picture of Shakira\'s hips as a way of illustrating what \"lateral displacement\" is. Whatever is decided should be posted in open forum for all to see.

By the way, if you guys decide to ban Monty Python pictures you can all kiss this poster goodbye. You bunch of fascists.

And before you start celebrating Broli, I was only kidding. I\'m not done with you yet.

Just Use GOOD judgement when choosing your signature and avatar. Keep it clean. Or ask youself:

Do I want MY kid (or my little 7 year old cousin, if you aren\'t a parent) to see this if he/she browsed this forum?

Just be smart about it people. It isn\'t hard.

it\'s not really what _I_ can disable but what\'s appropriate.. TWO completelydifferent things..

besides.. i enjoy other people\'s sigs/avatars.. although every time i see CF post i get dizzy :D

Okay, so we need to crack down on the obvious stuff, but can I also suggest if something in the forum is objectionable, or considered offensive by another member that they contact a Mod by PM or email, all this within reason ofcourse.

^ How did I miss this thread?

Okay I found it.. Now that one was in the lounge... so how do we judge? Just want to make sure that the whole idea behind a forum is not lost entirely.

Edited after checking out the breast mind meld.

pornography is a different thing then pictures of girls and cars!

in terms of pics and videos, as long as the thread has a NSFW on it!
that is more than fine (provided the pics don\'t cross the borders of legality!)

in terms of avatars and signatures!
and what is socially aceptable?
i think that, i would have no problem with anyone looking at something like my sig for example
it is girls in bathing suits, u can see that at the pool, at the beach on tv.
i will change it, if u all are really offended by it, or if u r afraid to look at it at work
but i don\'t see it being offensive or obsene!
(i am using mine as an example not to talk about other peoples)

what is appropriate is a personal, and societal standard, lets not be like the americans and ban everything.

think open, think european, thing japanese
these cultures are more open than ours . . .

for example
the pic of my avatar, is a smoking ad from australia, it is displayed in open public
kids will see it, old people, moms, dads, everyone!

so, lets not be prudes lets just not go to far!
judgement is key

definete no nos
no real porn shots! (look at that on ur own if u want)
keep these kind of pics to the lounge (unless it make absolute sence to post it elsewhere)

yeah, so i think the rules should be
a few definete kinds of things are inappropriate and judegement should be used!

i can understand that avatars and signatures, are more difficult to avoid at work
i am not selfish, i would be happy to remove my sig if it appeases everyone!

but careful with censorship rules, they are stifling and can be more problematic than the the problems they claim to prevent!

an example

i think that RedRaptor\'s sig gif, is hilarious, but someone who is very catholic might find it offensive!

and they would find it more offensive than skantily clad women . . .
so . . . i think that this is an example, of why we need to be careful here!

na\' mean!

so take it ease

;)

Broli, and not to pick just on you but since you replied here and you post a lot, your sig is bound to be in a lot of the posts.

to me, all i have to do is ask myself \"would my boss or any female coworker be OK seeing my avatar/signature?\" if the answer is no, then i wouldn\'t display it.. I\'m not sure if you work right now since you are doing grad school (and if you\'re a TA then you have your own office and nothing to worry about) but i sure would not want to get my ass fired for looking at something SOMEONE could deem as inappropriate.. and i\'ll just leave it at that..

Broli
05-01-2006, 11:23 AM
like i said . . .
i understand that . . .
and

look down please!!

whats that . . . ?
no more sig pic!

i am sad to see it go . .
but i don\'t want anyone getting in trouble!

that said . . .

i really don\'t care what any colleague of mine would say if they saw it!
if they would feel uncomfortable by it . . .
well!
i would say . . . grow up
and tell them their issue of cosmo is offensive to me as it shows the same crap!

;)

but u gotta protect urself!

That is a pretty good litmus test if you think about it. If you can hang the picture that\'s in your avatar or signature in your work environment without any reprisals then it most likely isn\'t offensive. Unless you happen to work in a garage in which case you haven\'t come close to being offensive.

By the way this is not intended to put down those that work in garages. You guys rule!

as for your coworkers.. just wait one day till u get slapped with some charges against ya and you won\'t be all \"i don\'t care what they think\"

please note, the above hasn\'t happened to me but i would like to avoid it at all costs.. ;)
