I\'m gonna be finally making the switch to synthetic but I just have a quick question.
Yesterday I was at Canadian Tire and I noticed they have MOTOMASTER SYNTHETIC OIL (jug 4.4 litres) for 28.99$. This is a pretty good price for synthetic and the way I see it; Canadian TIre wouldnt have their own oil refinary so someone else is making their oil. The other guys I seen were MOBIL 1 ($8.99 for 1L), Castrol Syntec ($8.99 for 1L), and Quaker State ($7.99).

Am I really sacrificing quality by going with MOTOMASTER synthetic? Any feedback? Anyone using it?

I\'ve used Motomaster synthetic before on my Honda as a top up only. I think they have one of the big oil companies making it for them.

I wanted to change my oil with 5w20 mobil 1 again but i checked the mobil canada website and its not even listed so i said you know what they do not even know what they want to sell here coz they were supposed to have the 0w20 come in but that didnt happen. I went with royal purple 5w20 cost me 8.24, i think toronto u can get it for cheaper. i\'ve been quoted 7.99 but those places werent near me.

Canadian Tire Petroleum buys gas from Esso. Maybe Esso makes it\'s Motormaster brand oil as well?

I purchased Motomaster full Syn. A few months ago to do a oil change.. I paid $3.99 for a 1L bottle
It was on sale. $29 is not a good price for a 4.4L Jug.

Motomasters full Syn. might not be as good as Mobil 1.... but it is sure as hell better than what is in your car now!! And if you get it a little bit cheaper...it is a good deal. (have any C.T.C money lying around?)

If you are referring to CT Formula 1 syn, it is made by Shell.

I finally switched to Castrol Syntec, love it. You can feel your engine hugging you back, thanking you. Plus I've been recording slightly better gas milage.

Why do you love it? what grade are you using? I use syn oil and don't see any gas mileage increase

Well the engine just sounds and feels smoother. Its not just because it was a fresh oil change. It just revs and idles smoother now. Gas milage has improved from 0.4 - 0.7 litres per 100km. Over the last 4 tanks of gas with no change in anything else, or the driving style.

I use the 5w20 recommended for the car.
