While I was traveling abroad in Asia, I came down with a bad case of influenza (my worst one yet). I had a high fever, lots of flem and diahrea. :(

After a visit to the doctor, I was given Zithromax 500mg. I was kind of suprise because the package only contains 3 pills. Unlike other antibiotics which requires you to take it over a 10 days cycle, Zithromax is taken at 1 pill a day for 3 days.

Immediately after the first dose my fever, cold sweet, and diahrea went away. By the second day and the second pill, I was not coughing and only slightly fatique. On the last dose, I was felling very good with no flu symptoms.

From my personal experience, I highly recommend this drug. ;)

Overall rating: 5/5
Price: Roughly $30 in Canada
Where to get: Talk to you doctor

Pros:
Fast acting
3 days cycle vs 10 days (Biaxin)
1 pill a day

Cons:
Expensive, although cost varys from country to country I would highly recommend getting it prescribe to you in Canada before travelling abroad.

I hate to burst your bubble on this one but Zithromax sounds like an antibiotic meaning you probably had a bacterial infection and not the the influenza virus for which you would have to be innoculated with a vaccine; antibiotics have no effect against viral infections, well as far as I know at least!:D

Here is some more info I managed to find about Zithromax!

That\'s correct, Zithromax is an antibiotic. Why or how it worked against flu, I\'m not certain.

Looks like Pfizer is the manufacturer. Symbol PFE on the NYSE.

so many docs giving out antibiotics like candy just because a cold/flu is inconvinent....
