Good find but there's nothing compared to hearing these in person.

I agree 100%.* After seeing the vids of the Vibrant, I'm interested in hearing one in person.* I think I might pick one up next spring (If I don't go for the MSP3).

I know Bubba has a Vibrant installed, but he also has a header so that distorts the sound even more :) Should be a couple more guys soon that will have a Vibrant, and there could be a Vibrant equiped Mazdaspeed3 around sometime in the next couple of months too ;)

Sound clips can distort the sound but, out of the bunch I like the Vibrant and the Borla.Would be nice to hear both systems first hand.
I'm researching getting a system in the spring, but I find it a bit of a dilemma...I plan on keeping this car longterm, I mean longterm, most of you guys will probably be driving Beamers and I'll still have my 3.The Borla is more expensive and dosn't include a Catalytic converter but it has a Million Mile Warranty. The Vibrant is cheaper obviously and does include the CC only problem is it only comes with a 5 year Warranty!!....what gives? ....5 years is nothing, a stock system will last that long.Vibrant I believe is fairly new in the exhaust business newer than Borla anyways and if thier using the same Grade of SS as Borla why the lousy warranty?.....anyways in my case, at the moment, I'm steering towards the Borla.

vibrant performance's parent company (Vibrant Power) has been around since 1985. Vibrant Performance has been around since 1997. Back then, and probably even now, they've been pigeon-holed as a brand just above Ractive/Toucan in terms of quality.

The lousy warranty could be because the products are made in Taiwan of cheaply constructed material (not all stainless steel of the same grade are necessarily the same in terms of quality).

And i don't think Borla is making an exhaust for the 3 anymore so (low interest), if you can find a dealer with one, scoop it up.

That's interesting to note that the products are made in Taiwan but I don't think that would make a difference if quality standards are withheld....its just pipe and CNC bending machines thats all.As for the material if its marked T304 than it must conform to specs or its not T304.
I wasn't aware that Borla has discontinued the system for the 3, thanks for the warning,....maybe I'll have to make my move quickly.

Composition of T 304 VARIES from one supplier to the next. There is a range of composition percentages that can still constitute Type 304 Stainless Steel. So, YES, you can have "cheap" T 304 and "better" T 304 that still conform to specs.

Furthermore, the welds can be subpar as well in a "cheaply" made system as well (both in metal and application).

So, how would you keep costs down and maximize profits? use cheaper materials in a plant where labour is cheaper.

Note: I'm not saying that Vibrant's SS pipe and welds are subpar, just hypothesizing as to why the 5 year warranty.

Not to be argumentative, but, I understand completely about the variances that you may find, but there are MINIMAL SPECIFICATIONS 'set' for grades of SS especially Aircraft Grade T-304 SS which both manufacturers are claiming they use.I agree completely with the other points...welds, process etc;......the thing is it still bothers me that its only 5 years. The exhaust on my other vehicle which was stock and original from the factory and was only aluminized metal, lasted me 12 years!! So its a mystery to me why they don't have the confidence in their product to last more than that.By the way from your other post....I called several places about the Borla cat-back and all of them had the systems in stock and one guy actually called Borla and was told they have no plans to discontinue the item.

For those that may be curious I was quoted $750.00 taxs in for the system and $60.00 install.
