The new lancer looks 03 or later galant , where the tsx copied.. The new lancer doesnt look like a mazda3 , honda civic, or toyota corolla. It reminds me like a shark ( great white). picture the lancer with hids in your rear view mirror. like the movie JAWS, where the shark is chasing the swimmer..

I also own a mazda3 gt sport. and a lancer ralliart. The lancer ralliart is better car.. for the money!!!

Was this at the Autoshow? I was on Mitsu's website last night checking out their redisigned 2007 Outlander when I noticed that they had the 2008 Lancer already on their site. Looks good, and very inexpensive for their loaded GTS model. Alas, their Evo wasn't listed yet.

I wanted to drive this car right out of the skydome when i saw it. So mean, but sleek at the same time. If thats even possible.

TheProfessor
03-14-2007, 03:36 PM
Okay, I have to say that the car is growing on me. I hated the exterior but it's looking better now for some reason. Regardless, the non EVO Lancers are a pretty good deal. Have any of you gone to the Mitsu Canada site and priced out a fully loaded Lancer? It's quite reasonable and comes with some nice features, including seven air bags (one for the drivers knee), 18" wheels, and a pretty killer 650watt RF stereo with 6 disc cd changer! All of that plus a lot more for under $25,000 plus tax. Keep in mind that's full MSRP, and that you get the 5 year 100000km warranty. I think Mitsu might actually have a winner on their hands with this car. One can only hope the Evo is just as attractively priced here in Canada.

cereal83
03-14-2007, 04:11 PM
Looks amazing IMO, before I got the 3, I went to the Mitsu dealership, but no HID so I walked away.

I think the car is very bery nice and 100 times better then the old lancer

TheProfessor
03-14-2007, 04:15 PM
Meh, HID's can be added for a few hundred dollars, I wouldn't let that stand in my way of getting a car. Of course you made the right decision getting the 3, but still.

cereal83
03-14-2007, 11:26 PM

Have you seen the Specs and Prices (http://www.mitsubishi-motors.ca/2008/Lancer/Specs.aspx?lng=2) of the 2008 Lancer!

Some Highlights:

Hands-free Bluetooth™ cellular phone interface system with voice recognition microphone
650-watt (max) Rockford-Fosgate Punch® premium sound system with 9 speaker including 10-inch dual-voice coil subwoofer, digital signal processor, speed compensated volume and equalization. 6CD/MP3 in-dash head unit
Sportronic® steering wheel magnesium-alloy paddle shifters (CVT only)

Sportronic® CVT with INVEC-III
Horsepower 152 hp @ 6,000 rpm
Torque 146 lb.-ft. @ 4,250 rpm
Engine Type 2.0 Liter MIVEC inline-4

Not too shabby... but don't worry I'm still going to buy the Mazda 3.

TheProfessor
03-20-2007, 11:19 AM
The only two things that bother me about it which may very well be unfounded is the engine seems a bit weak for the car (especially when coupled with 18's) and the stability of Mitsubishi. People have been saying for years that they'll go belly up but they seem to be marching along quite happily.

3GFX
03-20-2007, 01:17 PM
All I'd want would be the 18s and Bluetooth. I still like my 3. The 18s will come soon enough, and bluetooth is down the road.

SPECS FROM MITSU
http://www.mitsubishi-motors.ca/2008/Lancer/Specs.aspx?lng=2

I don't like the front end so much (EVO will have diff bumpers/rims/lotsa other things :)) looks S40ish, the screw-on bumper pieces are just as ghey as they are on the Corrolla S...they would definatelly be ripped offf! But if I was in the market for a 3 GT...I would honestly be leaning towards the MITSU

I can't wait to see the EVO on Canadian soil (legaly), have been an EVO fan over the STI from the start!

Wow, $21,698. Add $1,100-for auto(peddle-shift), and $2000 for sun and sound..for 24,798. not bad, it also comes with a extended warranty.. The blue one looks better..

PlatMS6
03-25-2007, 08:56 PM
More PIX...ok this thing is seriously gonna steal sales from Mazda...
As far as the interior some parts I like more, some the 3 is just better at...

Really like it in the dark red....blue is nice but would look a lot better in navy blue (that one looks too electric)....that chrome grill border would have to get painted a satin black or something, it just doesnt belong.

The stick on bumper fins dont look as bad as they did on the white one above...the GTS comes with 18's, but needs a drop badly!

STI currently lists for $48k CND... the EVO in the US is a few k more. Subby has a high exchange rate, but I doubt Mitsi will look to give them away so I would say min $45k to $49k

My Opinion on the New Lancer:

Front looks good, back looks so-so. The back will be one of those hate it/love it designs. Interior looks nice and much improved from the last generations. Granted the fit and finish looks good and the quality of materials (based on pictures) looks decent.

However, I do not think that the design (specifically the cosmetic look of the car) is enough to steal massive sales numbers from Honda, Toyota or Mazda. Because of it's love it/hate it design, some people will not consider the car right off the bat, which means no further consideration will help the sale.
Unlike a Mazda3's design which is mostly Love it or "meh" (very small percentage hate the design) the "meh" people will still move on to consider the 3 because of the features and quality.

Mitsubishi has a lot of obstacles and bad rep to go up against. Despite their long warranties, their cars have had reliability issues in the past and that has hindered their public image. Long warranty or not, if the car breaks down, it's just as annoying. They thought the new Eclipse would save the company, but it ended up just flopping.

I personally think that this car won't do very well despite the new design. If Mistu wants to really get their sales back, they should do what Mazda did to their line up... Offer a gorgeous design, packed with features that generally wouldn't be in the car's price range (i.e. HIDs, Rain-Sensing Wipers) that also is a blast to drive, but most of all, prove to the public that their cars will LAST.

I think the redesign along with the features and the price will make the new Lancer a success. Maybe not right away especially with only one engine available, but as long as the quality is decent and they keep adding features (just like Mazda did with the 3) and trim levels I think they could have a winner on their hands.

Personally, I think both the exterior and interior look very nice. The back end isn't that exciting, but I like the blunt noses that all these new cars seem to be getting...looks very European. The interior is very nice as well. I think I like it better than the 3's. (The red in the 3 kinda turns me off anyway).

Does the GTS always come with that rear wing? I think that will hurt sales among older buyers like myself who want an affordable car with some sportiness, but not necessarily statement things like big rear spoilers. I think it looks kind of silly as a wing--a lip spoiler I could go for.

I was planning on buying a 3 soon, but I will definitely be giving the Lancer a look. Too bad it wasn't out 1 year sooner or I wasn't buying 1 year later--I am reluctant to buy a car in it's first year after a significant redesign.

nowadays the manufacture more concern about the gas consumption, usually the outlook of the car over power than the actual horse power, anyway, i love the shape of the new Lancer.

My opinon on the new Lancer. Its great!!. I Have an 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart and 2005 Mazda3 GT. Everyone in my householder thinks the Lancer is better than mazda3..Here it is, The Lancer has a tighter stiffer suspension from the factory(strutbar, springs, shocks), mazda3 doesnt, you have to add(costs me money) Lancer interior is more durable than mazdas, my mazda3 seats falling apart already 1.5 years.. No problems with the lancer.. but the lancer has lots lots torque, mazda3 doesnt.. so its faster. but For mitsubishi repution, from someones opinions, I know from fact, I have driven mitsus, and mazda. I dont have any problems with any of my 5 past mitsus..

I thought the mazda has more HP/TQ than the 2004 lancer
