I'm considering purchasing a pair of Mazda3 door sills (non-lighted) from eBay. Two questions:

1) Should I remove the stock door sills, or attach the new ones over top? I prefer to not have to remove the stock ones, just in case I don't want the new replacements later on (just a precaution).

2) I see they come from Hong Kong via eBay - will I get slammed with duty? Who has experience with the eBay route?

Thanks. :)

I think they just go over top of the stock one's with 3M tape. check the how-to section to verify.

you can find some additional info (final costs..install instructions.. etc) here (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=8989&highlight=door+sills+light+up)

i set up 2 group buys way back.. so mayeb you can get a few other folks in on it and save some cash..

I'd be in for some "Mazda3" sills. Never seen the ones Broli is referring to....

I would be in. Nothing on ebay unless its from the states. I saw The Biz's car and I really liked his. Let me know if you do a GB. About how much are they?

I actually purchased a set from ebay also coming from Hong Kong. They go over the existing sills.

Looks amazing, but it was very difficult to stick. They kept falling off. My advise though is do it in the heat. I did 2 first thing in the morning and 2 during lunch @ work. The 2 in the afternoon stuck very fast, the 2 in the morning come off easily and the stickiness is more or less gone.

Clean w/ rubbing alcohol. Or just buy new double sided tape from home depot or something.

Wow brought this thread back from life support...

If you dont want to buy new sticky tape and it isnt sticking properly, use hot glue.

that shit holds really well, and if you need to take em off, its easy to clean.

I put mine on a year ago. What I did was pulled the OEM ones off, cleaned them with soap and hot water then took a hair drier and heated the oem sills and also heated the sticky tape on the new sills and stuck them together. They have been solid as a rock ever since.

I'd be interested in a GB (depending on price) if someone wanted to put one together.

Whatever the price will be, its better then Mazda`s price of $99 for all four.
