Hey all,

I got my windows tinted today at Thornhill tint. Richard did a great job and I would recommend him to anybody. I went for the 20% all around. I am very happy with his work but I am unhappy with the % and I would like lower. I think if I could have done it again, I would have gotten 20% on front windows and 5% on the back windows.

Well here are some pics

u wouldnt wanna get 5% it is so dark. My friends Mazda 3 has 5% tint in the back window and everytime i have to back up the car, i would have to open the windows or open the doors. Its that dark. Anyways u wouldnt want 5%. The cops would be all over you

Well you can tint the back windows with 5%. I wouldn't do my window as I know that is really way to dark. I was testing my tint yesterday but pulling up beside people and giving them the finger. If they got mad, I knew they could see me. lol

I am very happy with it, I just wish you couldn't see it in as much

Hahaha I can't believe you'd give random ppl the finger, that's hilarious. I wish I was in the car with you :chuckle 20%. Already looks really dark, when I got my windows tinted, I asked for 20% but the guy said I'd have a lot of trouble with cops, so I stuck with 35%.

Most people who saw me give the finer just gave me the finger back and that was it.

One guy was exiting onto the 407 stopped completely and tried to back up but people were behind him. He then started to wave me back over to him. I stopped too and he started yelling and gave me the finger, then everybody in my car started to give him the finger out my sunroof. It was funny as heck. He was mad but it was all for a laugh so it was worth it.

Richard from Thornhill tint said it's illegal and I will get hassled but I went with it anyways.

I laughed when I read your first post describing this but reading this it sounds like it went a little too far. It was worth it for who? Sounds like you got some laughs at the expense of others.....not cool in my books.

Anyway, back on topic. Car looks nice. I know it's at the discretion of the cop on if tints are illegal, but isnít 20% legal? Also as long as you donít do anything to attract negative attention, you most likely wonít get hassled by cops with 20%.

Well I don't think it went to far except for the part of him backing up the ramp. After when he decided to finally just leave, he was laughing or what looked like laughing. I think he had a laugh after all that.

Yeah, I am sure I won't get hassled for it just driving around but if I am caught speeding or something something stupid, then they will take advantage of it. I drive by several cops yesterday with no issue. They didn't even second look at me.

Looks very good. I'm guessing 35% would be too light. Probably 20% is the way to go...

Thanks guys, I like it like this alot better then no tint and that is for sure.

Richard was a great guy to deal with also. I called on Wednesday and he said I could go in on Sat so I did. I called FX and he told me I had to wait unti like April 22nd or something.

Yep, FX is available on Saturday by appointment only and they are usually booked so there's a waiting list. April 22 actually isn't too bad. It gets worse in the summer.

Does Thornhill tint have something similar to FX's Premier tint? (it has a very subtle metallic tint to it)

I am not sure as to tint but it seems like he had a crappy film and good film which I got. He says it has a metallic look to it but I am not sure exactly what he means by that. Maybe there is more reflexion is in then the cheap stuff. I am not really sure.

I have a friend who got a Mazda6 done there last year and it stills looks fine to this day.

i had 17% on my car and it was REALLY dark the first month, it got a lot lighter now as it gets worn. so your 20% now might not look as dark later on, but nice tint job you got there.

remember, if a cop ever tries to give u a ticket for the tint being too dark, let them know there is not set limit in ontario as long as the cop can see you from outside looking in. at night, if they pull you over, have the window down already just in case because i was stopped by an officer a couple of months ago, he wanted to check up on me bcuz i was apparently swirving a little. he thought i was drinking but i just got off work so he started to ask about the tint, i told him straight up about the law in ontario so he asked me to roll up my windows, i had my interior lights on at that time and he had a BRIGHT light shining at me from the cop car behind so he was fully able to see me with the windows rolled up, there is for sure subjectivity in this as a tinted car at night usually means that it is hard to see through if its less than 30%.

btw, he let me go after that
