i have been trying to go thru alot of these posts re in car audio, phat boxes? i pod adapters? etc.

i have an ipod and i want to hook it up to my car properly. i find the fm tranmistters don't work for me.

I rec'd a notice from mazda that they will install and ipod adapter for $189 plus labour.

my first question is this adapter worth the money?

my next question, is there another option where i can get myself a whole new audio system (or an upgraded version of the mazda one i have - i noticed the new 3's have more options with their audio that did not exist at the time i bought my car)

i am looking for something that would allow me to play an i-pod and give me an aux input for other future devices, or other mp3 players, etc?

i figure if i am gonna spend $200 for an adaptor, maybe i can get a whole new system...

i have a 2004 mazda3 sport

There are a number of iPod and MP3/aux adapters on the market which you can pick up for about $100 give or take. I would suggest going with one of those and installing it yourself as it's fairly simple to do. Do a search of this section as there should be quite a bit of info on the various types people have used and their success with each.

www.therpmstore.com (http://www.therpmstore.com)

Try the Audiolink adapter. I have the USB version and I love it. If you need more review, search www.mazda3forums.com (http://www.mazda3forums.com) for 'Audiolink'.

Its under $150 and you can install it yourself in about 2 hours.
