I am able to edit the thread title of my post, but the change does not show up on the forum page. Is it possible to automatically update a thread title once a poster has altered it after the initial posting?

i think u have to edit your title in teh first post, not in any random post in teh thread!

in the subforum where the post resides, locate your post and double click next to it, it will allow you to rename it right there..
cheers!

Sorry, I should have been more clear, I was referring to the first post of a thread I would have created. For example: this thread. I just edited my title in the "Go Advanced" editing mode, but the title change doesn't show up on the Suggestions Box page, it just keeps my original title.
majic, I'm not sure what you mean by "double click next to it"?
double click only works if ur a mod :flaming

I actually noticed that too. If you go under Advanced setting of your post, it allows you to change the title of that post - it does not allow you to change the title of the thread that you started.
I wanted to change the thread title of some for sale stuff but couldn't....oh well.

I don't have the "edit thread" option under thread tools, must be an admin/mod only thing.

I actually did do this and they did it for me the first time but got no replies for my several other requests. I think it would be useful for users to be able to do this. For example, let's say I have a selling thread with multiple items, it would be good to be able to update the thread title to reflect the status of the sales. And this can change on a daily, even hourly basis, so pming a mod for every change isn't very productive for either user. Also, I don't see what harm can be done if we were allowed to do this.
I know you can do this over at the Redflagdeals forum, and I believe this forum using the same software, so I'm thinking there should be a way to allow users to have a title changing option.

So is it a "no go" on changing thread titles for regular users?

Yeah it's pretty annoying IMO that we can't change the title threads for our own threads without PMing a moderator.
it works
but the moment some 1 posts in that tread you can't change it
gay i tell you

I think people should make an effort to get it right the first time. :)

It's not necessarily not making an effort, just simple human error, and for me the reason I want to be able to do this is to update a thread title when it's needed. Example: selling thread with multiple items, would be good to be able to update the title once one of the items has sold.

Yeah and sometimes the thread changes and warrants a different title.

When the item is sold, you mention it at the end and a moderator will lock it. It's usually best to leave the original post as it was so people can later see what stuff sold for.

Well, in my case I had around 4 items for sale but ended up selling 2 of the items elsewhere so those sales had nothing to do with this forum. I guess I could have just said that those items are sold but thought it would be better to update everything to exclude those items.
The feature would be convenient (as long as it's not abused). I tried changing the title a few times, when it didn't work I said....oh well.
