Hello all

I just got my new MS3 a few weeks ago. It only has 2k on it but I'm having a hell of a time trying to smooth shift from 1st to 2nd. The car bucks and just doesn't seem to want to take 2nd nice. Also does anyone else find their MS3 jerks when at slow speeds say in a bumper to bumper situation? I find when I release the throttle the car bucks too.

Thanks

It does take bit of time to get used to the shifting in low gears with MS3.
However, you might want to refer to this thread.

Also upgrading your rear engine mount will give you huge difference.

what rpm are you shifting at... do you engage the clutch with the gas pedal still depressed slightly or have you let off 100%?

Usually shift anywhere between 2500-3000. Foot 100% off the gas.

Come to think about it... I don't think I'm off the gas 100%. I seem to manage smooth shifts when I'm not thinking about it. Damn brain!

Sometimes, it's all in your head.

I've driven stick my entire driving life and I had some difficulty getting used to my MS3. I even stalled it first time when driving it off the lot. :)

I've got the hang of it now but even so I still have some rough shifts when I'm not paying attention.

I've driven standard on a BMW, Subrau Legacy, a few Civics, and a Jetta. And I noticed the same thing you're experiencing on the shifting of a Mazda 3. I had this problem when I got my Mazda 3....not Spreed3.

Try pressing on the gas pedal a bit quicker before you fully release the clutch going into 2nd gear. Also, press on it a bit more than 'normal'.

ride the clutch a little, let the clutch out slow.

Is this thread about everyday casual driving, or about somewhat spirited launches?
