Hi,

which mod do you recommend and will you do first?

performance and/or handling mods.

lighter wheels, strut bar, CAI, exhaust,....???

Should a CAI come with exhaust mod to be plenty useful?

thanks

Definitely upgrade the rear sway bar first. The stock one is terrible. (I know I will be the minority on this)

For daily driving, the Progress bar works great.

BTW - you mentioned strut tower brace. Don't even bother (unless you plan on doing some serious Auto-Xing). They're next to useless - mostly for show.

HID lighting is an amazing difference if you drive at night.
A short shifter is also good for daily driving. Get a good one. :)

all of mods you do or want to do will depend on your $$$$$ FLOW. It can get expensive.

I also take into considering what I want the car to do. I mean, I am not so much into making it go faster as why bother. Can't use it and I don't plan on racing it. So I do allot for myself and looks eventually to handle better. But thats just me. What I guess I am getting at is mods are pretty much an individual item. You do what YOU want for YOUR car do be the way YOU want.

Have fun with it.

Get a CAI (cold air intake). You have many options running around $250.

Sounds good, looks good (under the hood), slight performance and gas milage increase.

vblanche... i think you should go to the track and decide what you need after that.

The sway bars on the regular mazda 3 (2.3L) I find are really good. There are different techniques you can use to force oversteer or under. There is a track school thread in the 'other events' section. The list is almost full, so please don't misunderstand me as someone that is just trying to get people to go to this event. The brakes are amazing (stock) as well. Tires will be something I'd look into if I were you.

you can get all that stuff above cheaper if you shop ebay...

Pro Kit $200 shipped
Koni Yellows $650 shipped easy
Rear Sway, depends on brands but will range from $130-$200
Exhaust, depends on what you want again, Borlas can be had for $450, cheaper for other brands like Trubendz and the likes...lots of great deals on Magnaflows and i like the sound of Magnaflows.
Headers Vibrant are expensive...they are like $350-$450.
CAI can be had for $200 pretty much anybrand
HID, should be no more than $250 if you buy off of M3F board.
Motor mount is fixed, not much cheaper anywhere....

I just saved you $1200....my cut is 1/2 of that....lol

Does everyone find a gas mileage increase? that's a pretty good feature...:)

vblanche
10-18-2007, 06:07 AM
what about a front sway bar?

3GFX
10-18-2007, 10:11 AM
Gas milage does increase, slightly, but ultimately it depends on your foot. I liked the sounds a lot and pressed a little harder on juice so my milage went down a bit, same goes for the exhaust. But over trips where I actually watch my foot, the milage has increased.

i have almost a full exhaust (minus a highflow cat), and a CAI, and in the city, i can get around 450kms to the tank, and on the highway, 600+ kms easy.

3GFX

That's with a 2.0 though no? I get around the same (450 - 550) a tank.
