i just recently removed my door trim to my 3 hatch to give it more of a sleeker look. the only problem is, i live in florida where the sun puts a beating on your cars paint. Therefore, the paint has faded (lightened) to where u can see where the door trim recently was. Plus, I had some body work done to my left rear quarter panel, leaving some indications of overspray on the left rear door. My question is, should rubbing compound blend in the two shades of color?

possiblly, or try a good waxing too. Perhaps go to a good detail shop and see what they say?

a basic 3-step over the area of where the mouldings used to be should do it.

Wash & Pain Prep (Clay Bar)
Polish
Wax

Particularly the polish part should be what you need to restore the paint. try that first. Save yourself some money instead of bringing it right to the pros right away. If you have never polished your car (waxing is different than polishing, for those who might not know) that is definitely going to help.
