View Full Version : What's your favourite lens to shoot cars with?
After reading a comment in the 450D release thread, it got me to thinking about my favurite lens to shoot cars with.
Of the lenses I've got - my fave would be the:
Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM for general shots; and the
EF 50mm f/1.8 for abstract or tight shots.
On my wish list would be the:
SIGMA 10-20MM 4-5.6 EX DC HSM
What's your current fave and most wanted?
lol, considering I was shooting with a 35-80mm, I'm really happy with my 18-55mm. Then again I'm actually really fond of your 16-35mm ;)
I'm envious of JMAK he's got the 10-20mm Sigma
You want wide? Go with the new Sigma 4.5mm f2.8circular fisheye - 180 deg view on APS-C size sensors (like your Rebel). It would be fun, for about an hour, and then you'd realise you've got a useless 'gimmick' lens (that's over $1k).
lol....why would you bother when you can pick up a quality fish eye on ebay for $30 :p

All depends on what view I'm taking with my car:
Sigma 18-50 f2.8 for most shots
Canon 50 f1.8 for as it's pretty fast
Sigma 10-20 for wide
Currently Most Wanted - Not sure - I'd like a fast long lens, however don't really want to spend the cash. But I'm also debating about a dedicated Macro with 1:1 ability at bear minimum without having to get extension tubes (Sigma 50mm f2.8 macro may satisfy this).
Currently Project (regarding photo gear) - reverse mounting an old Pentax MF lens for macro work.

24-70mm f/2.8 for detail shots
16-35mm f/2.8 for full car shots
My next most wanted (aside from replacement for 5D) is 70-200 /f2.8 IS for race track/panning shots.
Currently Project (regarding photo gear) - reverse mounting an old Pentax MF lens for macro work.

Good luck with that. I have a top secret project too. Hopefully it'll be ready by spring/summer.

It's tied to another project also, but like you, not giving many details either :)
