Then, I decided to make my door handles look like carbon fibre.

and just thought this would be cool to show.

If you guys want a how to on the boot mod it only costed me about 10 dollars at canadian tire for the black boot.. the rest was easy. As for the carbon fibre look, same place.. 14 dollars for the vinyl and time..

The area where the deck has a slot is lit with 2 led's as shown. at night it really gives off a nice look.. as well you can see i have kept my stock lcd to tell me the temperature outside..

The car as it stands now next to a ford escort .. random I know :P

i like the stereo, matches the orange-red lights we have in center console.
As for your shift knob/gater mod, IMO, it's as bad a a Civic with a Type R badge; case of mistaken identity.
But each to their own

I should design an alternative that is not a standard look but somthing everyone would use instead of that block..i scratched it as soon as i got in the car the very first day.

Thanks for your honesty .. gives me ideas :D

Put up ideas once you have some, we can get a brainstorm going on.
For now I'm brainstorming solutions to my assignment, lol

If you're trying to do the whole CF look. Might aswell add some to the grip of the e brake. in the middle to be exact.

Have you tried using an AT shift knob with a MT shift boot? I think that would solve your mistaken identity issue and make the job look cleaner. Might as well make it look special since you put the time in to doing something with it. My buddy did this with a Razo Automatic shift knob and it turned out nice.

carbon fibre on the hand break, yeah. Ill do that I just have to get the hand break off unless I can eyeball the exact cut.

Yeah, Ive tried the AT boot on the MT boot and its just weird for me.. doesnt look right .. Ill take pics of your suggestion for entertainment purposes..

Anymore ideas? Im thinking of designing somthing for the ATX user thats tired of the current knob setup lol

make another gate that lights up depending on what gear it is in.
so if it is in D, D will light up on the gate.

It already tells you the gear on your speedo does it not?
Either way, I find it a bit like you're trying too hard.
If you have an auto, you have an auto... 2 seconds of seeing you drive off with it and anyone will be able to tell.
No shame in having an auto in the city.

Is it easy to take that silver cover thing off of the shifter?
- or is it attached to more stuff under there?

Maybe paint it black or somthing to blend in with the rest of the console?
- the bright silver stands out like a sore thumb
(I wish they mide it piano black)

Guys, I've already had a standard car. I know how it is, I know how it feels.

There is a reason why my 3 isnt standard. There is a reason why I like the look and not having to drive that through hot summer traffic.

Summarizing this up, I just like the leather boot look. I'm not trying too hard or faking anything. Do you got any idea how easy it is to scratch that auto box? I'm thinking of covering it in carbon fiber and selling it.

Nice work. How did you take the silver atx boot off? Is it only the 4 clips holding it in place?

Dante
06-12-2008, 12:39 PM
Yep, Only 4 clips. Work with the ones on the right first and then the left ones are tricky, It wont break but just work at it until they come off, thats all thats holding it down.

not feeling the shifter. not for the fact your trying to hide it being auto, just for the fact it looks badly done. it doesnt look stock, and it definatly "looks" like you tried to cover up an auto shifter, plus anyone who knows didly about cars will take one look and see you have no clutch, so.........
