View Full Version : Used Mazdaspeed 3 Pricing

I am considering a used, true red mazdaspeed 3. 17000km, been on the road for 1 year. Brand new rubber because the owner had rx-8 rims/tires on it. No mods.
The dealership will do it for $24250 +tax.
After my tarde in the upgrade cost is $6500 tax included.

Does this seem like a fair price??

I currently own an RX8. I am looking for something a bit more practical. I know there are more practical choices out there but I still want something fun. I am hoping the fuel costs will be a bit less (RX8 gets approx 13L/100km mixed - 75% Hwy 25% city), the insurance costs are equal, and hopefully with some good snows I can drive the 3 in the winter.

Thanks in advance....

Well take a look around the forum, but I believe that someone just got a demo with only 7000km, for about that price... I'll take a look for it, but I think you can do better than that...

Edit: Here (http://torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=25891) is the link.

I initially had a CWP 2007 , 9000 km, MCI Demo lined up for approx. $1000 less, but someone beat me to it. I was slow to put my deposit down because I was nervous about purchasing a demo.
MCIs are classified as "new" vehicles so I was eligible for a $2000 customer loyalty discount from Mazda Canada, which would have dropped the amount I owed to $5500 ($7500 before the loyalty discount).
Unfortunately there is no loyalty discount on used vehicles....

a demo should always be less expesnisve then the normal used car. sounds like a great price, i think anything under 27k is a steal but i wasn't one of the lucky people to get that 4k rebate on the blow out 07s

I got the deal done tonight.
It ended up being $24,500 out the door. I'm happy enough with that.
I pick the car up Monday. Its going to feel like a long 5 days......
Thanks for the replies.

man that pisses me off to think that after paying 35k otd a year ago if i were to trade now you'd be looking at a 15,000 hit in depreciation, 4 of it thanks to mazdas stupid idea at the end of the year.

Yeah. Definitely a good incentive to just keep the car. :D

Tell me about it, I purchased an RX-8 a year ago, and at the time it was an unbelievable deal. I got approx. 60% of what I originally paid for it in a trade. 40% depreciation in 1 year!

I'm keeping this car another year - then it's gone. I'm pissed as well that I paid way to frigin much for this thing.

You know Mazda is not the only auto manufacturer to offer huge rebates, right? Every car company has had to do the same thing to offset the strength of the dollar.

I know it sucks, but you're not the only one in this boat and saying you won't ever buy another Mazda as a result is not a good argument as you would have run into the same thing with pretty much every other auto manufacturer. Think of all the people who paid $36K plus tax for an IS250 only to have Lexus come along and reduce the MSRP to $31K a few months later. Toyota has dropped their MSRP's twice now and they're discounting on top of that. My wife and I just replaced her Mazda3 with a Honda and we got $6K off the MSRP, and Honda is actually increasing sales unlike every other auto maker in Canada/USA.

Just be glad you didn't buy domestic.

$35K OTD too...but it was the 0% financing that sealed the deal for me. Even given today's low prime @ 4.75%, I'll be saving approximately $4300 in interest costs over 5 yrs...and somehow, I'm hoping all goes well so I can use a Loyalty Discount next time round for that Miata...

but I also wonder what the market will bne like in a year as well for our cars...seeing as it'll likely end the MS3 production run sooner rather than later...

If dealers are only able to get $24k on MS3, I wouldn't be suprised they'd offer $15-18k for our cars now if we trade them in.

I think it'll only be downhill from now. Even tho MS3 is limited production, there will be a lot of turbo compacts/hatches that can smoke our ride coming for cheaper, better built, more fuel efficent etc. It'll push MS3 resale value down.

I bought the car because I liked it and plan on keeping it. Cars are never good investments.

yeah...definitely not hopeful it will be a good investment! just hoping its scarcity will provide a cushion, that's all...but with all the seeming reliability issue caused by guys blowing motors, the car may earn a bad rep as a boy racer/abused car...

Just a quick question, but do all speed 3s have the bright silver finish on the center console as well as a metal plate with a "3" stamped in it above the center vents?
I remember seeing some pictures of speed 3 interiors that looked a bit different than that.

Thanks,

With the 6 year warranty I was $38,500 OTD, but I got my car a couple months before the 0% on the '08s. After all interest and everything is paid off, I will have given the bank more than $47,000 over the 6 year finance. $655.55 a month for 6 years for my '08.

Can you post a pic of that?
It sounds like little customization from the dealer.

I got my demo 2007 TR MS3 from Ajax Mazda in March, they had 2 on the lot, that may be the second one they had (or they got another from somewhere), Mine had 13k km on it. I got it for 24k and I got the full warranty. They said the vehicle was used by one of their associates from head office or something.

I have had no problems with it except the purge valve thing that they replaced.

I love the car, wanted the EVO but for the price difference I'm very pleased.

I will post a picture of the interior when I get the car.

The one I am getting was not one of the demos (MCIs). It was a normal used vehicle.
I just found out it had the rust proofing treatment done as well. Bonus.

Yes, that's without taxes. Had it for one week now and I am in love. God, this is a great car. Even at 30K+ its a good value compared to STI or EVO, MS3 is sweet.

A+

Hey.. I picked up my Red 07 Speed3 from Ajax back on March 26, 2008.. I picked mine up with 10,950km on it, also an associates car, for $25,995.. so, you didn't overpay as some would say..

although I think your car in particular was one of the guys I met while there picking mine up.. he was an older gentleman, and real anal about his ride, he said something about wanting to trade it around that time for something else, perhaps that's his old ride?

Did they treat you well there? I had an amazing experience with them btw and I'd def. go back there and do business again..

Yeah, the staff at Ajax Mazda have been awesome. My family has purchased 4 vehicles there and my Speed 3 was the second vehicle I bought off them. Their sales manager, Brad, is great.
The service department is ok, but not great.

All I hope, is that the person selling their Mz3 as a MS3, atleast badged it with a speed badge.

X2, he was great, sat there and talked to me about my SUV I wanted to trade in for most of the day(long story behind that SUV)...

Andrew Twigg was the one who drove my Speed before I bought it, he's a really good guy as well..

As for the service, I have no idea, I didn't deal with them at all, lol.. I picked up the car and away I went..
hope your enjoyin' the car..
