i used---> a couple of bolts>license>plates>thru the lowergrill>washer>nut
looks cleaner than using zipties.

i would cheer for that team before the blue & white crap team here

Hey! WATCH IT! don't want any riots going on. :chuckle

I donno about zip-ties. I'd be more open to taking off the plastic mount on the bumper, dremeling it to fit the contours of the grill and attaching it like that.

Here's how I did mine:

2 bolts, 4 washers, 2 nuts. Works like a charm!
BTW, yes, that used to be Yearoftherat's lip :D

looks good, did you just leave the old wholes as they were? or did you plug them up with something?

Sypher

Holes are plugged up with flat thumb tacs painted black to prevent rust. There are many ways to keep it in there: silicone, hot glue, etc.. what I used is some "blu tack" type of stuff.. availible at home depot, or even dollarama

Can some1 do a step-by-step writeup? :/

1. Remove plate and frame
2. ziptie plate through top bolt holes into the honeycomb of the grill; repeat for lower plate bolt holes if necessary.

It's extremely simple...

Here's my example.

How do you remove the frame? And once you remove it, can you put it back in the future?

Take out the two screws that put it into the bumper. And yes, yes you can.

OK so you prefer to have it block the air passage to your radiator causing an increase in engine temperature?

Mike, it really doesnt make much of a difference airflow wise... not for me anyways. I've had my plate relocated since I joined OMC, and since then, I havent had any issues with heat. Also, the radiator for the 3 is quite large, and extends up to the grill, so in reality, the plate only blocks a very small area of air flow. And besides, it's better than having the black box on the bumper :P

What have people done about the holes left behind?

Even with both plates over my grill, I had a scanguage II for my whole 6000km trip to Nova Scotia, around, and back. This included mountain runs (completely loaded down), traffic jams, everything. My coolant temp was in the exact same range as without plates there. Made no difference at all. BTW, the coolant in the MS3 fluctuates between 84 and 103 celcious. This is with or without plates blocking the grill.

I believe there are two VERY tiny dimples so they know where to drill the plate bracket holes. You'd need a magnifying glass to see them, lol.

But zip ties do work wonders!

Now I only have a rear license plate. :chuckle
