I can hear a slight fluttering sound when in idle, but at top speeds it sounds normal.

Very common. Just reweld it and you're good.

Yeah, thats why I don't want a Mazdaspeed exhaust, don't want to worry about having it rewelded...

That's why I went with the Vibrant, although made in Thailand, the quality of manufacture and quality of metal is still there.....same price too, if I recall correctly.

MS seem to be of lessor quality. My buddy had MS Intake and was going to clean the filter and noticed that the bottom mount was broken away and there was a big hole in the intake and it had sand/dirt in it! YIKEs very lucky. He has since went with a F5 and is happier with the F5.

Its no worries buddy, its a known issue.

I got mine because it had this issue, I picked it up off someone and had fixed (and saved a lot of money). I've got the biggest weld in that spot now around the entire pipe. Take it to any shop or anyone that can weld and you'll have it fixed. Its an inexpensive fix too.

The only thing I'm not happy about is the fact that MS claims the full exhaust is stainless steel where truthfully only the muffler and tip are stainless. The differance in metal grade, along with tiny welds and very thin material make that spot particularly weak.

Mazdaspeed Intakes are made by AEM as an FYI.

I'm on my second exhaust and 3rd weld job now... welding does not fix it (in my case anyway). It lasts a good 8months or so after welding but then the metal to the outside of the weld just burns away just like in the pictures @ the top of the thread.

Overall pretty much a piece of junk. I still think it sounds nice and I continue to weld it because the cost is right @ 350-450$ (for the exhaust)

I'm welded again. 2 Weld jobs now. Next time around I'm just gonna replace the resonator.

i had this happen to me aswell and had it rewelded and knock on wood no problems since then. Just one question though does anybody have the problem that when going over bumpy roads you hear a squeaky noise comming from the rear? i have this issue and i found that the exhaust bracket hanger is hitting the camber adjustment (the stock one) and causing a squeaking banging noise. Anyone had this issue and fixed it?

Sigh, mine looks exactly like Thomas'

I noticed it when my car was hoisted to put on winter tires. The exhaust has been on my car for about a year and a half.

lol I had the vibrant before this ... 1 cracked Hi-flo Cat later I switched to the MS one.

It's a canadian company, but all of their things are manufactured in Taiwan.

Who cares where it's manufactured aslong as quality standards are adhered to! The MS does not come close to the vibrant in any way; material, design etc;

You cracked your Cat? Maybe something else caused it, because I've had mine for awhile and not a problem!....Bang for the buck, it's the best one out there imo....and it'll probably outlast most others too!

I noticed on the mazdaspeed accessory site, that the page for the cbe has been updated. maybe that means they fixed the problem? Who wants to go try it out and come back to tell me? lol

Hmmmm... Sounds like Vibrant is sounding better, and more of a durable product than the MS exhaust. I know some members have the MS3 exhaust will this happen to them as well? I'm thinking of going that route after hearing one of our guys 3s Sounds like a beast!!!
