Actually, I don't think they did anything to the A/C. I may be wrong but I don't think they would have changed something like that for a .5. I don't think my AC is too bad to begin with and it's an '07. Some people don't find it as cold as other bigger cars but it does the job.

Early 3's had a known weak A/C. Has been fixed since mid 06 AFAIK.

I still find my A/C is to be weak, i have 08 sport... Currently iam in iran and i find that the peugeot 206 iam driving has a much better A/C then the mazda 3 i have back home.... but thats about all thats good on the 206 lol. the problem i think i have with my A/C is that it takes wayy to long to actually blow out very cold air( i dont leave the car in the sun) its parked in the garage...

was it highway driving, or in stop and go city driving.

If you haven't bought the car yet, test it out on a very hot humid day in very slow stop and go city traffic then you will know if its weak and if you are ok with it.

I have a 06GT and I do find my AC takes longer time to cool when it 26C+ and its sunny out side. When its 26C+ and not sunny but clowdy, it cools faster.

Im not having any problems with the AC although I do find it a bit weak. This is one of the reasons Im going to get tints!

Also, running the AC for a long time even on the lower settings (1-2) on the highway cools faster but not in the city where there is constant stop/go.

Wow this is going to be my 200th post!

^^^ Tint Truly Helps with the AC Problem especially if you leave your car out for a while tint keeps the car a lot less hot than not having tint...... was prbly the best 200$ i spent on my Car comfort wise

someone correct me if i'm wrong...but doesn't the AC cool the outside air as it is taken in while driving and blows it inside (unless you have the re-circulate button pressed)? If this is true then OF COURSE your AC will suck if it's 30 degrees and you're in stop/go traffic...you aren't moving....

yes you are right but for some reason, the mazda 3 AC doesnt cool as fast when the car is moving. It takes sometime. I have sat in some other cars which are way older than our 3s and just by turning on the AC in that car whether the car is moving or not cold air comes out.

I have noticed that when there is no sun outside my AC just works fine but the sun rays make it hard for the AC to work.

In fact in my previous car 05 3GS. The AC was terrible even when its 22C outside. But in my present 06 3GT its much better but still weaker compared to other much older cars I have sat in IMHO.

i guess i don't notice it then....but then again i almost never use mine

but comparisons to other cars make no sense...old or new...they aren't 3's *shrugs* (not pointing the finger at you mazda just a general statement)

I also remember talking to my dealer about my 05 3GS AC being weak and he said at that time that there is some change in the type of AC that is used in 3s as compared to their previous proteges and he acknowleged a weaker AC as compared to previous generations of Mazda cars but told me to use the circulate mode more often as it cools the car quicker.

I have a 2008 GT that I just picked up a few weeks ago and the A/C seems to work fine for me, no complaints :-)

Same here, my 05 was never ever this cold. Had to turn it down b/c it was too cold.

yup, they did. they re-routed the airflow and those 3s with auto climate control with an additional sensor(s) have the coolest air conditioning.

Ok the 06+ models must shoot icicles out the effin vents, because I have an 05 GS and that thing doesn't struggle at all to pump out really COLD air.

Whenever I hit the AC button flames start shooting out the vents.
