I'll let others post their respective timings...these are my UNOFFICIAL times that I've logged with MaxQData:

Time attack, 3 hot laps:

RunFobio021.mqd
Lap times (in lap order)
Lap Time
1 1:29.230
2 1:28.512
3 1:28.705

Best lapping:

Last lap of the day before the rain came in...maybe that's the reason...

RunFobio022.mqd
Lap times (in lap order)
Lap Time
5 1:27.331

The fastest MS3 of the day should be lapping around ~1:25 min or 85 sec.

I wasn't paying attn to other cars...and they don't post timings like AutoX (some dude shouted out that it usually takes weeks for CSCS to publish it online, hence the benefit of your own timing)...we all also had to leave cuz the skies opened...so no one stuck around for trophy presentation...but if someone did, please share!

Anyway...this is what I think is very true said by Big Dad in the original post:

The track is not that abrasive and it is by far the best "import" event in Canada, I strongly recomend it to all. Let us make a strong Mazda presence. See you all there. I recomend that you preregister because the road course tends to book up fast and it is great fun.

Surprisingly, this track was very nice to my tires (I'm not speaking for everyone as another TR MS3 not on this board chunked his stock tires being aggressive on the curbs)...but the flip side of this is that this track is relatively slick compared to all the other tracks I've been to in Ontario...last track on the list for me is Shannonville for this year!

EDIT: Also, very true about pre-registration if you're interested for the next run, cuz when we got there, there was 8 on waiting list and they were turning ppl away...

highlights of the day for me on top of what fobio wrote:
I got outgunned by almost everything in the straight part of the track. I was faster then a good amount of civics, wrx, rx8, s2000, boxsters in corners but couldn't pass them in straight. A stupid wrx wouldn't let me by I tailgated it for 4 laps and I couldn't pass it on the straight due to lack of power... then it got scared when I was right up on him and he spun out :chuckle which is how I passed.

good show man, considering the handicap...nice to have met you but sorry we didn't get a chance to chat!

what happened bro?! did you find out if your rear brakes are ok?

I think its just overheated fluid. Last night I still had no brakes at 1am when I drove home from friend's house that scared me a bit. When I stepped on teh pedal it just sunk down and -wait- -wait- - wait- stops.

It recovered a good bit today. I stopped tracking the car at around 6:30pm.. the brakes still didn't recover after 6 hours ~ :whoa

the pedal is still a little mushy now, theres definately some air in the lines.

As for my unstable rear I don't know yet, I'm going to lower the tire pressure back to 35 psi all round and play around from there. I should look under the car and make sure nothing fell off lol. I faught the rear end from coming out ok on most of the turns, but the shacane part I had to totally let off way before the turn and coast through it or the rear flys off the track =(

the car is camera shy....but here's a couple my wife took

ya it was nice metting u to there was a great showing from the speed3's that the guy at the end of the 1/4 mile asked why there was so many mazda3's there, then i spent a good 2 min explaining the difference but he did say he was impressed with the times we were running

[QUOTE=Fobio;326815]matt...where did you find the times or is this you personal timing?

We stuck around for the closing ceremonies and inquired about our lap times.
Vlad also won for best Mazda in the show and shine. I was very happy to win the more competitive Super Street class after being bumped out of the Street class after I won that at the last event.

The pictures are great, but let it be known that it did not rain until after 8pm, we had a beautiful dry day and it was great. Some of us were bouncing from the road course to the drag strip. It was good to finally put a face to some of the handles on the board. What a strong Mazdaspeed presence! The road course was sold out and the Speeds were doing a lot of passing. I hope we can organize a big TM3 group for that Pennsylvania trip. Hope to see more of you for the last CSCS event on October 5th.

shit man...wish I stuck around...when we packed up and went for gas, I saw most of the cars have left and just went on home...

yeah...the track(s) was nice and dry for all the lapping and time attack, and they even let ppl go out in the wet when it rained which I wish I took advantage of if I had more gas left...

congrats on winning the "elevated" class and I assumed you also took out the SRT4?

Hey fobio & silvermist99

Great to meet you guys yesterday along with the rest of MS3 crazies!

Most unfortunate part of day: realizing I need a lot of mods$$$$$$$

Silvermist - sorry to hear about the brakes - that's what happens when you go too fast :gone

And yes I need some new tires - guess taking the line over the curb wasn't the best course of action

Best part of the day - the rain - too bad the fuel light came on - didn't want to get off the track.

Look forward to seeing everyone again

how are your rotors?

my rotors looks ok from looking at it. No unusual pattern or cracks.

Does your factory pads have a white layer on them? They vibrate when you brake? My brake feels a bit dull & mushy now but no vibration. The brakes feels like a corolla now without the super sharp, percise and firm feel I had before.

I'm going to change brake fluid & inspect the system on fri.

I even managed to break my digital tire gauge! I don't even know what tire pressure im running on now lol

Since my car has TPMS, I wonder if theres a system out there that can read the pressure off these sensors and display it real time inside.

oh man do i really hate to do this to you right now. But i don't want someone else to do it later on. you DID NOT run that time. All the numbers are wrong. I have been to the track a billion times and the "perfect launch" is .500 so anything lower than that means you went early which also means that all the data/numbers on that sheet would be wrong. sorry bro.

You are probably right because I had a run where my r/t was 0.169 and missed a gear and still got 14's but my best was 14.289 at 101mph (163 km/h) with a r/t in the 0.5.....here he got to 100mph....not sure how I can go faster and have a slower time? But i had nothing but problems figuring out launch so...

I have read and I quote:

"Reaction time has no bearing on the actually 1/4 Et are trap speed, it only matters if you're trying to be the first driver across the line."

Care to elaborate? Maybe you can start a drag-racing thread...

slower 1/4 time = more time to gain trap speed. I had a higher trap speed in my slower runs too when I used to do 1/4.

There was bracket racing on going on that day. Bracket racing isnt' 0.50 is it? I'm not too familiar with drag racing.

I've only raced once in cayuga 1/4 mile but doesn't the clock start ticking after you cross the line? Reaction time is just time to react to the light I think, clock ticks after you move. I know this is how the st thomas clock works don't know about cayuga.

I think his time is pretty in line with what others are running, low 14 with a 2.2-2.3 60' every .1 you cut off your launch will result in at least 0.2 faster time at teh end.

edit: found this on wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_racing

The elapsed time is a measure of performance only; it does not, per se, determine the winner. Because elapsed time does not include reaction time, a car with a faster elapsed time can actually lose the race if the driver does not react to the green light fast enough.
the 13.89 is his elapsed time which shouldn't have been effected by R/T.

if you've "been to the track a billion times" you should know that reaction time has NO bearing on the numbers thereafter.

RT is the from when the green light goes on to when you break the last of the staging beams. once the beam is broken, the timing starts and everything else is VALID.

Yep... a car can run 12 and lose to a car that ran 13 based on ET (when they left). ET's determine which car crosses the line first all other things being equal

Actually that is incorrect as I have been in very close contact with the officials at previous events i have been to. I should clarify though what i meant by that. I simply wanted to point out that the final calculation would be "off" but all the 60' and other incremental times would be fine. I have never done bracket racing either so it is possible the time starts at -0.000 rather than +0.500 but im not sure how that would tell you if you "went early" so i doubt it.

that is CORRECT, but if you "break the beam" before the final light/stage, you would still register YOUR time regardless of whether the car beside you is faster or slower. For instance, if you crossed the line first, but you "broke the beam" and recorded a 13.69, the guy beside you could still finish behnd you and record a faster time of 13.43 :)

Like Majestic said, bracket racing might be different and the time starts when you cross the beam and there are no staging lights?? (not really sure how that works) But in this case, it would be a much more accurate time and have no bearing on when you put your foot on the gas (as said already)

there are 2 staging beams at the start line ...cross the first one and the pre-stage light goes on, come to just before the 2nd one and the stage light goes on. cross the 2nd staging beam and the clock starts for your elasped time (60', 1/8 ET, 1/8 MPH, 1000', 1/4 ET, 1/4 MPH).

your RT is only the time it takes from the green light on the tree to breaking the 2nd stage beam. your RT is generally only important if you're racing 'first to the finish' style. you could have a 1 minute RT and still run a 13.xx second quarter mile.

this is regardless of bracket racing or not.

ok you're right. I might have been reading it wrong because that does make sense to me now. Maybe because iv only done the "first to finish" style so im not familiar with anything else. I thought that was the whole point of a race, to see if you are faster than the other guy. Instead, now it's just creating a personal best and competing against your own best time. To each their own. My appologies.

I was really used to .500 being the perfect RT but things have changed. The concept is the same though and .362 your first time out is nothing to shake your head at. You can't expect to be a professional, yet :)

its a matrix because its slow :chuckle

i have a confession... my car is actually a toyota matrix, i stuck a mazda badge on it because its cooler and less wagon like. The inspectors at cscs found out.

so I drive like a robot .. shyt same thing happened at the autox. I used to be a very very inconsistant driver.

I guess they don't know how to name vehicles, mazdaspeed 3 turns into matrixs & mazda3. Neons turns into SRT4, impreza wrx sti turns into sti. BMW turns into a model, and a nameless ghost was driving a rx8.

The SSAWD STI, SSRWD 350z and s2000 are amazing!

Right and put me off my line. I should of went left but either way affected my speed going in and out as the cone would not be in the same location in the next lap....

I was making a few mistakes in my line that can help me improve my time by a lot. Especially coming around the corner that leads into the straight. I dropped it in second while in the open lapping afterward I was taking it in third...Should be interesting for sept. 7th :)

Fobio
08-20-2008, 10:09 AM
yeah...that cone was really messing things up...I took both sides and never found it comfortable around that fallen/flattened cone in the middle of the chicane where we could be going relatively straight thru...I don't know if I can shave 3 sec's on street tires tho...

and yeah, being out on the course for the second time would help too!

the lapping sessions were crazy tho...not like any other lapping I've done and it's hard to focus on your own lines when you keep running into traffic...

mleblond
08-20-2008, 10:15 AM

Being the last group to go out was my fault -or- maybe Mazda's fault for building a car that uses too much fuel!!:flaming

Silvermist99 looked at my fuel gauge and it was on empty!!! We didn't think I could make the 5 laps

Full tank: Ultra 94
Distance to track: 100km - 7.0L
Distance on track: 65km - 35.0L
Total Distance per tank: 165km
Cost: Priceless
