Yep, you can bring your own oil and only pay for labour and filter. You can even buy your own filter as well. I know dealerships will charge only $20+/- for labour and filter.

I bring my own Royal Purple to the dealership... they charge me for basic labour, oil filter and disposal fees.

I do every time to save money on my M1 synth rather then have them make a profit on it.

Mr. Lube honestly will charge you an arm and a leg.. surprisingly.. the dealership is cheaper for this type of oil change and they do any other types of service in your maintenance schedule at the same time.
They also keep your oil change on record for warranty purposes so you don't have to keep around receipts and such.
I got to my local one here in Ottawa (Kanata Mazda) and they have no problems.

I've brought my own oil to Avante since day #1. They are great about it.

Well i bring my car into MoT and i bring my own Mobil 1. They charge me like $38 and i supply my own oil..... i always questioned why it's so expensive but never really looked into it.
Is anyone else getting charged this much?

Make sure they are putting in the oil you give them, easy for them to do a switch and put in regular dino oil and keep your oil for themselves. Watch them put it in your car ..am I paranoid?

Sarboro Mazda carries Synth Mobil 1 (and can order it if they need to) as well as Castrol. They also told me Mazda just came out with their "own" fully synthetic oil - they charge the same for all of them, so I'm going with Mobil 1 this time around... they are also fine with bringing in your own oil - not sure what the charge would be for just the oil change though...

dave wood just quote me $25 for changing the oil plus filter if i bring my own
I miss cheap oil changes. Oil changes are $150-200 a pop on the M3.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to bring it to a garage to do it if you got filter and oil? The one I go to charges me $15.

YEah for that price, it's not worth my hassle of doing it myself... also it's an excuse for them to fix any TSB's or issues I notice in the meantime.
I still pay the price of the oil, but I buy by the case so it evens out for me to about $6.80/L

where are you buying a case? because mobil 1 synth is 9.00 a bottle :S at canadiantire

Yeah I still get the dealership to do my oil changes so that they can look at the car and do whatever they need to do to it...aka tsb that I am not supposed to know about. I supply them with Mobil 1 and I think my oil changes are somthing like $35.

Is this before or after tax? Every time I bring my oil to MoT, it ends up costing me 50 bucks (Tax in).

I buy Mobil 1 5w20 synthetic jug at American Wal Mart for $19. I think CastroSyntec is the same price
This is not a secret that Canadians get ripped off. I know Canadian Tire charges $38 for Mobil 1 jug
I bring in my own oil (Mobil 1 synthetic) to my dealership I think with taxes it comes to like $28 so at the end of the day a fully synthetic oil change only costs me under $50.

yes I do all the time and I make sure they use the oil I brought.
Mr Lube. I can't stand them I find they don't care about the cars. I have never and will never take my 3 there.

well i just got mine done at the dealership and can honestly say im not sure if i will do that again, i think having some grease head who has been changning oil all day and touching the underside of a car all day should NEVER EVER get on the inside of my car let alone drive it. they didnt even put a floor mat down, so that was lovely. so the nice clean inside of my car gets this guys grimey hands all over my shifter, door handles, and steering wheel. ya i definatly wont do that again, people who change oil belong OUTSIDE my car, never in it
theurgy

I would freak over that... my dealership has drivers just for that.
Mafty
08-24-2008, 10:14 PM
yea so im going to look for some other way of doing oil changes since i will never have the gu who changed my oil get in my car again

Mention it to the service manager... hell.. offer to drive it in yourself.
they usually wont let us to drive it out there if thats not the drive-thru garage. but YES, they should have a driver just for driving cars in and out. do u mind if i ask which dealer that you went for service? i wont go there next time, mine is not even leather, its PITA to get it clean.
