Bah I reared into a pole today. i was drop dead tired but totally my fault so really no excuses. oh well live and learn..better a pole than a person. Anyways, damage was to the bumper which got dented a bit and paint got chipped off as well. any recommendations on good shops in Scarborough/Markham to repair and estimate cost?

how much would it cost to get an estimate? also its a 04 mazda 3..a small portion of the paint actually came clean off in that rear. would touch-up pens or anything work for that?

If you chipped it right through, it's broken through all the layers of clearcoat and paint. A touch-up pen isn't designed for that type of fix.

It'll also likeyl have spider cracks from where it split the paint. The part that came right off is likely down to the plastic. Unfortunately, that means repaint. And since the bumper flexed, you can't do patch-work when it comes to this stuff ... it'll be a complete bumper repaint. As long as the rest of your car's paint hasn't faded too much you may get away without blending. That would be up to the shop to decide on how different the colour is once it cures after paint.

Approx cost (guesstimating) : $300-$400

It's so pricey because they have to strip down all of the paint and respray to match. It's more the labour costs than the material.

Hmmm any idea if its possible to do for $200-300 anywhere? I dont care if it doesnt match exactly, its just that the paints not even there anymore lol.

Look up Colorworks in the yellow pages. They are located right beside Whiskey-A-Go-Go.

In general do these places charge for an estimate ? I'm guessing they just take a quick look and tell you how much it would be correct?

Just call them and ask. I'm sure they will want you to swing by so they can give you a proper estimate for the work.

to repair and refinish the bumper cover its gonna cost you $300....somebody here said $300-$400 and that's about right

remember that cash is king - especially with body shops....

and myself - because i am a little crazy...i would ask them to remove the bumper cover and paint it off the car because i hate overspray....and i know - they'll say thay they will tape it off out the wazoo and no overspray but they will paint your exhaust and wheel wells and it will get in your trunk sill etc etc....i would pay the extra 1/2hr labour for them to remove it and paint it off the car.

just my .02
