okay...before everyone calls me a newb i tried the search button and it didnt bring any results

so... one of my light bulbs are burnt out (which sucks, bought the car 2 weeks ago) anyways 2 things...

1) what type of bulb is a good replacement? I have read some of the ones at canadian tire will do but they burn out easily.

also if I want to switch to the bulbs to get more of a HID look what bulbs would you suggest? ones that would not burn or melt anything lol

2) is there a DIY guide on how to change the bulb? i am not that mechanically inclined but would like to learn

thanks guys

did you look in the manual? im pretty sure they have a diagram on how to replace bulbs and what size the bulbs are.

As for the HID look why not just the HID kit just so you have the REAL thing :)

as for those HID looking headlights read this before condsidering http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=8192&highlight=replace+headlight+bulbs

As for the type of bulb, I say go HID as well, definitely the best option. Either way, if you're installing a halogen bulb or an HID bulb, be sure not to touch the glass portion of the bulb as the oils from your hands can reduce the life of the bulb.

Is it new or used car? If new try going and telling them to change it cuz it burnt out after 2 weeks. Thats ridiculious.

If you want the "HID look", you can go for the Silverstars, MTEC Cosmo blues, GE Nighthawks, PIAAs, etc.

Unfortunately, all of these bulbs have a short lifespan and you run the risk of burning things.

(I can find old threads for you to view, but they all went in the same direction i.e. members convincing the person to buy HIDs.)

If you want something that is brighter, and somewhat whiter:
HIR bulbs: http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=31031

These don't have quite the same colour temperature as HIDs, but they throw a LOT of light!

It took me less that 10 minutes to swap out my high-beams. Could have done the HIDs as well in not much more time.... why are you saying that it is so hard to do?

Ha! I haven't had to replace any bulbs on my 3 yet but my family's '96 Caravan is always burning out the front left signal light. You gotta stick your arm in the wheel well and replace the stupid thing blind. After a few years of this, my dad got tired of trying to screw the light into the proper place and just crammed a crumpled up plastic bag in there to hold it. If you guys have ever seen the Top Gear Vietnam episode you can guess what happened next.

the front turn signals are a BITCH!!
i ended up loosing a bulb in the headlight, meaning i had to take the front bumper and driver side headlight out to shake it out lol...
next time i have to change a bulb, im just gonna take the headlight out...
or just get someone with really small hands to do it for me :chuckle
