Hey Guys,

I hear a lot of issues with the iPod Adapters for the Mazda3's, do you guys know if the kinks have been worked out for the 2009? I been looking around and some say they have - I just want a reconfirmation.

Does it display artist / song title (beside those characters not supported)?

Does it work flawlessly - searching through albums, artists, playlists etc?

Thank you!

I want to know the same thing but for the 2010 GS. I just bought it and added the ipod interface but I'm not sure if that was a good idea.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the Mazda adapter DOES NOT display artist name/song.
The online demo step #5 states this.

It seems to show that it does in the demo unless i'm missing something.

Yes, I see that it displays it too. Demo #5 shows the elapsed time of the song or something of the sort, no?

Look at Demo #13 of #17:

At any time, when you would like to see the Titles or names of the Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, etc, simply press the button as shown to briefly view the title names.

Shows the: DISP/ESN Button

Looks like I'm answering my own questions here...

Mazda ipod adapter '08.5+- Due to a change in harness connectors on the '08 HU Mazda released an ipod module compatible only with '08+ models. You must connect the CAN +/- wires to the LCD harness for text display. This module requires the use of an install kit to connect it to the HU. There are two install kits to choose from. One provides a pass-through for OEM sirius, and the other does not. Both cost the same so I don't see much point in getting the one without just in case you want to add it later. Note, the OEM ipod module is NOT compatible with the OEM NAV.
Ipod Module P/N C29179CFZ ~$113.60
Install w/ sirius P/N C9F4V6029 ~$86.40
Install w/o sirius P/N C9F1V6029 ~$86.40

I wish there was someone out there with a 2009 and iPod adapter to confirm all this - maybe with pics?

Personally i think it's better to go another way, both Griffin Technology and Kensignton have decent ipod/iphone solutions that don't bother to tie into the car, but do charge and have ports for the aux cable

I have the Griffin Tune flex one and i really like it, puts your player right were you want it and within good reach.

not sure I like the idea of the controls being on the steering wheel where one of your hands should be..

I sorta agree, but the interface and limitations of all the ipod integration cables just seem to kill the point of ipod integration. If you notice both of those options include a remote that attaches to the steering wheel for control.

I never bothered with the remote and would have prefered they sell them without so they would be cheaper.

Hey guys,

I will be getting my 3 tomorrow or thursday - I was in today playing with the ipod controls and it was honestly not the easiest to control. I did not know how to control it exactly but when I get the car I will let you guys know as I play with it too, plus pics are on the way!

Well, I promised I'd let you guys know how the iPod controls were with the iPod Adapter2,

It does display all the information as you want - the searching for a song is horrible. Due to the single line led display - there's no better way so they make you work with playlists.

I am now used to it and like the convenience given the fact you have to make playlists.
It's not worth the price tho.

Nor is the quality as good as CD. I also find Sirius to not be as good as iPod and CD
