You under 80,000km....if so take it to the dealer and have the replace the dash under warranty

If not then mabe you need to start checking out junk yards and see if they got anything at a decent price

Guud luck

it's a common problem down south.... the only way to fix it is replacing the entire dashboard as you can't buy that one piece that runs along the windshield

I suggest not using any armor all type stuff (if you are already, stop) as they have been known to cause plastics to crack... also, invest in the OEM sun shade to protect the dashboard better

Sorry but that's total crap, I've been using Armor all and other brands on all my cars for years, including my present 4.5 yr old 3 and my 16 yr old sunturd, never had cracks develope or anything else for that matter. As a matter of fact all dashes stayed in perfect condition!!....I agree with your second point, if the vehicle is parked out in the sun all day!

The crack in the photo looks a little odd though, almost like a stress crack...not typical of a heat/expansion crack.

I have this problem too in my '08, but it's a hair line crack not that worse yet, maybe it's just a matter of time. Is this cover for MAP warranty?

my crack looks almost exactly as the one cwp_sedan showed, only mine goes all the way to the vent. and i'm the same as flagrum-3, i have always used some kind of plastic/vinyl spray on all my cars and have never had this issue. and oddly enough, hadn't used it yet this summer (no time to get out there and clean my interior) and then, a friggin' crack.

Reading thru all those links I find people making comments against using products such as Armor all, 303 Protectant etc; yet with nothing to back up their statements, nothing!! Yet...I also see several people talking thru "experience" that they've used such products for years with no ill effect!!.....I'll tend to side with people of experience instead of some trying to give advice on things they can't back up.....or any internet hoopla!

I personally can speak from experience and can honestly say; Using such products, I've never encountered any issues whatsoever, in any of my vehicles.

My self i use merugirs protectant on my dash and been using it for years with no problems...when i sold my truck that i bought brand new and owned it for 8 years the guy that bought it tryed to tell me all the crap that these products are no good for your dash etc and the only thing to use is water..:loco

Haven't read all the links but isn't our dashes more hard plastic than soft vinyl from years ago...?

Depends, most much older vehicles like '60s, '70s used more of a puffed vinyl but alot of vehicles have been using hard plastic for years for instance my '73 SuperBeetle, my '87 CRXsi were hard plastic.

Armorall is silicone based, and according to internet articles, has changed their formula recently due to the plastic hardening over time. There are a lot of people who swear by it, and many who swear against it.

I wont be the guinea pig. I stick to water-based products myself. My fav is the Poorboys Natural look dressing.

If you have an 08...then i would go to the dealer and get them to take care of it...you are well within your 3yr 80km limit...

What makes you think using the Poorboys Natural Look dressing is any different? ...Your'e still a guinea pig lol...only this time for Poorboys. So I guess my experiences matters for nothing? I'm just mis-informing everyone here out of spite LOL!!

Truth is it doesn't really matter what you use on your dash cause the secret is; Don't leave it sitting in the sun for prolonged periods and if you have no choice, get a windsheild screen as theMan suggested. No vinyl dressing will ever defeat the Sun's rays, that's just the way it is.:)
