Anyone planning on going to Picton for the regional autocross events this weekend? Looks like the 19th is going to be a great course, and the St LAC club (organizing the 20th) is a great one, really friendly and helpful guys. Odds are they'll put on a good show.

Here's the proposed course for the 19th.

OMFG awesome course. Took FSS by 2.2 seconds on day one. That's despite losing my engine mount on the first run. It sprayed the oil all over my hot engine and I came into the pits with my own personal smoke screen.

Day two was bad. I drove like an idiot and hit 11 cones in the 4 runs we had. Lost FSS to a local guy who I normally beat by 2 or 3 seconds. My head wasn't there. Ah well, still a great weekend.

You guys missed a great one.

Condor888000 you missed the announcement. They found an extra 1km using the runoff and paddock at the back corner.
Next years double header will be ~2.4km-2.5km and will be "officially recorded" by Guinness World Record as longest autox in North America.

This years was 2.3km supposedly, just beat out by a Florida course couple years ago.

WHAT! When was the announcement, end of day drivers meeting when we were trying to get the Mazdaspeed Miata on the trailer? Should be awesome next year. Just have to bring spare parts and a lot of tools...

They need to figure out what to do with that damn western corner though. You missed it, but those bumps are what broke my engine mount, what lost the Camaro's power steering pump and what destroyed the caliper on that MSM.

Ya it was a the closing drivers meeting. May next year, write it down!

What no love for Cocky in the photos?

Yea Saturday was massive fun, but those bumps were down right spooky in a Miata with 280,000 km. I managed to dislodge the pad shim from one of my front left brake pads and had it rubbing on the rotor. Easy fix, but scared the hell out of me in the stop box when I didn't know what was making the noise.

I put on the street tires for a fun run and checked the dash. At the end of the straight slalom I was pulling around 105km/h (the entire slalom was flat out in third gear for me). Klaus (BMW 325 that set FTD) pulled up his in car footage at the cottage on Saturday night and his GPS data acquisition said he managed 115 at the end of the slalom which was also his fastest portion of the track. So not as fast as I thought it would be.

Average speeds over the entire course were working out to 80km/h-90+ for some of the faster cars (based on a 2.2km/h course length. Those I talked to that used their odometers ranged between 2.2 and 2.4km course length.

FTD was 1:28 if I'm not mistaken and the fastest stock car was Daniel's STi at 1:31. Just like the DDT event it was much more about staying error free than outright speed. It is really REALLY hard to drive for over a minute and a half at competitive autoslalom aggression and not screw up.

Gizzmo, Condor: which of you was driving which car? I'm sure I meat you but forgot to ask your screen names.

Oh and do either of you know the guy in the 240sx #36? I think I left a pair of shoes in his pit area and I'm hoping he picked them up.

Oh and driving this car on Sunday was a blast:

except that I drove one of my worst events ever in it. Broke the car on my 3rd run, fixed it for my fourth and then drove like an absolute tool.

HAHA Marsh, I was pitted right beside you. I was the blue Mazda3, with the 240, Mazdaspee3 and Skyline.

#36, Cory and Brandon. Yes, the 3 of us found your shoes. I'm not 100% who took them, I think we passed them onto our St Lac guys (Rob Sr, Rob Jr, and Bill) who were making sure the airfield was cleaned off.

driving for over 1.30 min and remembering the course, going at right speed and not mucking up is quite the challenge...

HAHA Marsh, I was pitted right beside you.

Sorry, I figured that out when I read your post about the broken engine mount.

I'll email the Brunners about the shoes. Likely they can pass them to Greg, or somebody else that will be in Barrie on the 4th for the last event.
