Attention 2010 Mazda 3 owners with the built in Bluetooth System.
I added a post a while ago stating my issue with the Bluetooth System in my 2010 Mazda 3.
Problem:
When dialling a phone number directly from the cell phone the call will NOT ALWAYS transfer to the cars Bluetooth system even though it shows connected on the display of the cars radio.
I have actually narrowed it down to the following;
1) If you call a landline phone number via the handset it will transfer to the cars Bluetooth system 100% of the time
2) If you call an automated system such as your bank it will transfer to the cars Bluetooth system 50% of the time.
3) If you call a cell phone on a GSM network it will transfer to the cars Bluetooth system 100% of the time
4) If you call a CDMA handset it will transfer to the cars Bluetooth System 50% of the time.
I had contacted the Manufacture of the Bluetooth System and spoke to 2 technical support agents. The first one stated it was very odd and had asked me to call back when I was in the car with my phone so they can test it. When I called back I got a gentleman on the phone and explained my concern. He told me the following verbatim,
“The Mazda Bluetooth System was designed NOT to transfer the call to the cars Bluetooth system automatically if placing the call directly from the actual handset for “PRIVACY REASONS”
I responded by saying, “If the system is not supposed to transfer the audio automatically then why does it do it as mentioned above???” He could not answer that question.
So, basically im to scroll though my phonebook on my phone, find a number press the button on my steering wheel and speak the number all while im driving. This is not good news especially for owners who live in areas with the new hands free law.
I also informed told the agent that I owned a 2008 Nissan Altima with built in Bluetooth and it always connected no matter who I was calling, I could simply press the voice dial on my blackberry and it would automatically connect to the cars Bluetooth system.
The agent also told me that he’s has several people call in with this very problem
It’s not handset specific as I have tried 10 units (new models).
So, in conclusion if you dial a number from your phone its not suppose to connect to the car…. A bit screwed up.
I am fully aware that you can transfer numbers to the cars system one by one but im sure there are a lot of people that call random numbers on a daily basis so to sit there and add a number into the cars address book is not an option.
I have made it very clear that I will escalate this matter and if it involves me taking this matter to court I will.
What im asking for specifically is the following?
1) Do “all” your calls connect to the cars audio automatically or do you have to manually transfer the audio to the Mazda system?
Do I hear a class action lawsuit? For residents in the USA it’s my understanding that they are implementing the same hands free law.
