I have a OMP Carbon fiber Racing seat that i have left lying around my house that i took out from my eclipse before i sold it.. i was planning to install on my 3.. i researched around and found a supplier that sold aftermarket seat brackets and sliders for the our cars.. so i was told that it should just bolt right on.. but my problem is before i go head and order that up.. i just want to know if anyone here installed a aftermarket seat.. and how did u deal with the airbag issues.. is there a away around it?

No ones figured it out yet. Those with an aftermarket seat discarded the sensors, and their airbags.

yeah you can add a 30 ohm resistor to the circut on the sensor for the passenger air bag. that will make it switch back on.

lotsa info in your one sentence...

1. so removing your driver/passenger seat, even just one of them will disable other airbags as well? curtains?

2. Adding a resistor will restore airbags to everywhere else including passenger AND curtains?

there is a lot of questions in your two questions :chuckle... but for sure curious as well

Such a thing has been suggested, but I haven't heard of anyone proving it.

As far as I'm aware, if one of the airbag sensor detects any kind of problem or that the circuit is broken, it generally shuts down the whole airbag system for safety reasons.

I'd assume that's why dj_lj suggested that resistor trick to run the system back on. Wonder if its that easy tho?

Like COndor said, people have suggested it, but no one will back it up with pics, or say that they have done it.

Since installing my seats, I have the light on and would love it gone!

I personally have not tried this or have any proof of anyone who has. I asked a guy about it and he said that it works. It has something to do with the passenger weight sensor and the bladder inside of it. he also suggested wrapping the bladder or clamping it to simulate the weight of a person.
