Hey TM3,

Just wondering if anyone has successfully removed their orange reflector from their headlight and has any pictures of how it looks- I'm considering an angel eyes install and removal of the reflector.

Thanks!

P.S.- Does this give anyone trouble from the cops? Is it legal to remove it?

Not a problem! It definitely makes a huge difference aesthetically (like tints). I haven`t had any trouble whatsoever from the coppers and don`t see why you should. As long as the bulb blinks and is not an illegal colour (red, blue, etc.) you`ll be fine.

I've got no trouble- a lot of us remove them after our angel eye install. When I went to Dan (McGuyver_3) to install mine he said all of his previous customers chose to remove the reflector. I was on the fence about it but he yanked it off anyway. I don't regret the decision at all either.

Make sure to also buy chrome dipped amber lights for your turn signals so you can complete the "clean" look too. Justin (MistaChin) has the chrome dipped bulbs in that picture as well.

I found with it removed, it exposed nonpainted parts and the overall shape was weird. I decided to smoke them instead, same effect but without the void in the headlight.

taking it out is technically illegal as the reflector is no longer there.. its purpose is so that when your car is parked on a dark road, people will see it when the reflector lights up from their headlights :)
cops don't know half the laws of course

In seeing that you bought a new set.. i suggest to attempt it on your current headlights.. that way if you mess up with the install you still have brand new lights to put back on.. if it is succssful, then you can open the new ones...

Thats what i did for the ifirst time in opening the headlight housings...

Good luck!

ya I'm for sure going to give it a try on my old ones first!
