Thanks to laksman's heads up, I've ordered these Porsche GT3 cooling ducts for my front brakes. Here's the original thread:

Are your brakes getting too hot at the track? Have $30 and an hour? (http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-x-tires-wheels-brakes-suspension-sponsored-tire-rack/463520-your-brakes-getting-too-hot-track-have-30-hour.html)

The goal is to of course, channel more air towards to the front brakes. For those who have taken temps of their brakes and wheels at the track, you'll know what I'm talking about. I've ordered them off ebay for about $55/pair...hopefully, I'll have these working by June.

Here are some pics from the thread:

I've always thought that if you take away the fog light surrounds and use some ducting into the wheel well you'd get the same affect. Something to consider?

thats great for weekend racers and trailer queens

On a daily driver, having the aluminum duct popping out of your front valence, is just asking for unnecessary attention. And even doing this on a weekend basis, would be a PITA.
Also, the way today's cars are shaped, the aerodynamics is taking away 95% of the airflow from the foglight surrounds

this upgrade makes your daily driver track ready....almost

nothing installed yet...we have 2 sets here but neither one of us have had time to get under the car yet...I'll be alotting a min of 2 - 3 hrs to do this once my new gig settles...

in the meantime, I might lend them to an EVO owner and see if he can:\

1. fab new pieces that don't need to be trimmed for the EVO

2. fab new pieces specific for the MS3!

Hrm, I seen that thread too. I suppose this is of greater benefit to the track goers, and not so much to regular everyday useage. However Fobio, If you dont mind me taking a look at them in person, I think I see a way to fab something out of aluminum.

IMO the reason the brake duct is made out of plastic is that if it scraps etc, the ducts themselves will break. If it were out of aluminum, it might mark up whatever it is attached to.

To add to a great post, I stumbled upon this: http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/forum/f12/mazdaspeed-3-brake-ducts-74688/

This is only worth it if you do track work.
3" - 550 F flexfab silicon ply duct.

Who needs foglights anyways - they are only for show anyways.

If you really want to get fancy you can rig a mount directly to your brakes like AMS did:

And make a "funnel" from the whole foglight area instead of having 2 fake ones similar to:

If there was enough interest I'd consider making a kit including carbon fiber backing plates that accept the hosing matched to carbon fiber intakes for the bumper...

If the "price is right" I'm sure people would be interested. Is it neccessary to be in Carbon Fibre? I can't really see the advantage from having it in CF

Nope, not necessary, just an option. I'll look in to some pricing.

you could always rig up NACA ducts: http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/category/Naca_Ducts2
and use something similar: http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/category/Thermoid_High_Temp_Ducting2

I just want to say I "called that" on the duct work from the fogs to the brakes ;)

you guys need to read his thread on MSF.org. He has very specific needs and he knows what he's looking for and has the equipment to make it happen. [SEE: big turbo prop in picture (obviously not for the MS3), thermal sensors that reads over 1000*F to chk his brakes, running track pads with R-comps]

personally, I know maybe 5 guys on this forum that would even run a setup like that, which is why he needs the ducts. general wknd lappers, stop-light warriors and DVP combatants need not apply.
