2.3L DOHC engine info?

I was wondering if there are any articles or resources out there that talk about the 2.3L DOHC engine in any detail? I'm interested to know if there is a certain RPM threshold where the engine switches from fuel economy over to better performance?

From appetite of this car I suppose there are no any economy modes except the “fuel cut” mode
being engaged when the acceleration pedal was quickly released. As a performance mode can be considered the activation of VVT mechanism at 3000rpm and under fair engine load, don’t know
the exact percent.
