i work at a local movie theater we have a huge back lot which is perfect for drifting racing etc. Alot of kids i work with have some nice cars eclipce gs, lancer, and a toyota supra. we get off at around 3 in the morning so we drift. i just go my mazda 3 2010 and want to join in but they said i wouldn't be able to drift because it is a front wheel drive car and automatic :bang is this true?

You can slide the ass end of your car around (using the e-brake, but you won't technically be drifting since you don't have RWD). Lots of people who claim to drift, aren't even doing that, they're just power sliding anyway.
While I can see this type of activity going south in a real hurry if cops showed up or if someone hit a hidden curb or a post, on an individual basis, heading out to a snow covered parking lot to see how your car handles in the snow is actually a great idea to learn about your car.

yea its more like a powerslide they pull the e brake and steer over. but cant u flip that way?

Eclipse and lancer are fwd too... IMO any car can drift if there is snow on the ground

I think you should steer first and when you sense under-steer then pull the ebrake and the back just kicks out...

Many people on this forum do not encourage this kind of stuff thats why you are receving some of the comments you got.
In the snow, it may be ok to do so but i wouldnt even bother when there is no snow because that would simply help you go through your new set of tires more quickly. Like mentioned above, just turn, ebrake, there you go. Is it as fun as a RWD car? no, but if you wanna join in then that would be the easiest way
I hate to be a big buzz kill - but as the manager don't you have some responsibility regarding what happens on your company's property? Since these kids are, in fact, your employees even though it's after hours the company could be held accountable for their actions and the consequence there of. Especially since "the manager" is endorsing it.
If I were you I would very quickly inform the staff that the activities must stop immediately and permanently. If they did not I would call the police and turn over any evidence ie, security footage you may have of the activity so that the persons involved can be changed.
Then I would call a local drift/racing school and sign up for a class in the spring. Next get GT5 or Forsa and you can learn to your heart's content about drifting (or it sounds like cars in general ffs) without putting your life, others lives, your job and your future on the line...
Who knew I would recommend playing a video game as a way to grow up?!!?

You're the manager? This is property that isn't designed to do this sort of stuff, there are too many things which could go wrong that you'll never see coming until it just happens. I don't know where to start when I think about kids in their cars, with their crackerjack cereal licenses, drift racing in the snow around cones and crowds of bystanders at 3 in the morning.
edit: not trying to pick a fight... just stating that this is not responsible behaviour, and you're the manager... you really should stop this. Unless the cops themselves are sitting at the drift racing 'track' and watching while eating their donuts, it most likely isn't a condoned activity... largely for safety reasons.

Wow... I... You... Really? Like really? You're not just trolling?
Okay, so, if you're not trolling, here's how to drift a Mazda3:
1. Look at your birth certificate and edit your post where you said how old you are. You can't really be 27.
2. Take your car and your ownership papers down to the nearest used car lot. NEAREST is key because that means you'll have to drive the least distance.
3. Sell your car.
4. Purchase a bicycle.
5. Castrate yourself to prevent breeding.
NO WAIT!!!
You know what? It IS a good idea to drift around the parking lot at 3 am with people watching. It'll get you hot chicks. They totally dig it. Here's what you do:
1. Go to the opposite end of the parking lot.
2. Make sure your seat belt is off so you can move your arms better. Plus it shows them chicks how fearless you are.
3. Accelerate towards the bystanders, preferably ones standing up against a wall. Don't let up on the throttle or it won't work (er... for you, that's the long pedal on the right).
4. When you're 10 feet away, pull the handbrake and turn. Now you're drifting!
(5. You hit the bystanders, sideways to nail the maximum number of them.)
(6. You kill yourself and the bystanders.)
(7. The gene pool is improved.)

Is this serious or is someone just trying to get us all going. You do understand, that as a manager, if something like this is happening on the property, while you are in charge, and something happens(and you have NOT called the police, and are rather standing there watching, or being involved). ie...a car goes out of control and hurts someone...YOU CAN BE CRIMINALLY RESPONSIBLE...i'm not talking you can lose your job, i'm talking you can GO TO JAIL. I would say you have two options....GROW UP...or go to the freaking race track.Preferably...GROW UP

I don't think so that we should be extending an olive branch, he's purposefuly lied to us on multiple occasions, he's either a troll, a developmentally challenged person, or a cop trying to get us to bite on things, and own up to things then nail us for them.
