Not aware of any recall except for that of the dash rattle, not that I have one right now. Did they mention anything in particular? As to what the cause may be?

Are you sure it was a "recall" the only thing i can see related to the engine light on for the mazda 3 is -

MAZDA SERVICE PROGRAM (MSP23) - MIL ON WITH P2183 AND/OR P0111

On some 2010 Mazda3 vehicles, when the engine is started after parking the vehicle under intense sunlight, the malfunction indicator light (MIL) may illuminate with DTC P2183 (ECT sensor No.2 circuit range/performance problem) and/or P0111 (IAT sensor circuit range/performance problem) stored in PCM memory. This is caused by an excessive temperature difference between the ECT #2, and the IAT due to the sudden rise of engine compartment temperature from sunlight warming the vehicle’s hood.

A revised PCM calibration is now availableto repair this concern.

If you have any other questions please let me know, or send me your vin and i can check as well.

Do you have a link to the service bulletin on this one?

The only time the MSP has to be completed is if the MIL light comes on with one of those DTC's. Nothing is to be done with it if they are not present

I had this recal done along time ago on my sedan I had. They just came out with it when I had my headlight recall done. I didn't notice any difference between before and after

Because it is a recall it will get done regardless. We do the same at my work. When the customer comes in, the workorder is written up and the recalls are automatically added. A recal is mandatory you are thinking of a bulletin
