do you guys have any idea if this setup will work on my speed?
Also what tires would have to go with it
(Im on Prokits)
Specs: 18x9 +22 Front 18x9.5 +23 Rear
Thanks in advance!
Fronts will be tricky but the bigger wheels wells on the speed will help. Might require camber plates.
Rears, no issue at all

Hey guys
Gen 2
18x8.5 +48 with 225/40/18 tires, will be on sportlines.
Want to get 3mm spacer for the front and 10mm for the rear.
Will I need to roll the fenders too?
Hey all,
I'm looking to put 18x8s on my car. Stock height probably won't lower, if i do with racing beat. The wheels I am looking at are 18x8 cb73.1 et45. Will I have to run a spacer? Do anything special? Probably a 45 or 50 series tire on

Not 100% sure but you should be okay without rolling the rears. Fronts should be fine too.

you should run 225/40 tires with those wheels for proper speedo/odo readings. You'll have no problems at all with that combo.

You'll be fine with 8 +35, but if you want something a little more aggressive you couldn't really do 8.5 +35 in the rear.
I'd suggest 225/40 for a meaty fitment, or 215/40 for a bit of a stretch.

Depending on the width and offset of your rims, you might have some rubbing issues (with no fender work) as that is quite a large sidewall. Might be okay though.

To my understanding the 2nd gen wheel is 7.5" wide.
To go from a 225 to a 235 shouldn't be a huge deal.

to get better cornering, you want a tiny bit of stretch on the tire. if you want more traction, you need more beef! :D

Should fit fine.
Tires would fit fine too (I doubt you'd even come close to rubbing issues with a minimal drop due to the high offset of the rims) but a 50 sidewall is a little big. Maybe look into a 205/40-45/17 for a nicer look

Hi all
I'm thinking of running staggered, fronts 18x8.5+35 and rears 18x9.5+30 how much work would be needed for the rears? I'm currently running 18x8.5+38 all round, so roughly 21mm more poke for the rears. Rears have been rolled. I'm on bc br coilovers.
Would 225/40/18 be safe for highway driving with the 9.5 wheel?

Would 225/40/18 be safe for highway driving with the 9.5 wheel?
Thanks :)
you should be fine i was running 18x9.5+38 (5mm spacer) = +33 no problems

yep... nothing related to it. the tire tore from something on the road... bead was still held and everything
and to boot my tire is 215/35 not 225/40 thats a mini stretch

Depends how low you are.
I would say a bit of camber will be needed.
Lowered on bc br coils. Maxed, Australia has too many car laws hahaha. We can't go lower then 100mm :(
ATM I'm on 18x8.5 +38 all round. Same wheels as you :D going for a change to the enkei kojins painted orange :)
@Schmatt66 thanks :) mines a gen 2 so tiny bit more room(I think)

You have a first gen
With that offset
I believe you have to
-roll fenders
-slight pull
-spacers
Not so sure...

Yes but there is a good chance they will get damaged
Lets say this... If you plan on running offsets lower than +30, you will need a roll in all cases

Will these fit my car with no extra modifications?

I have a 2006 hatch and I'm looking for the winter steel rims (just the rims, not with tires). The info I found was that I'll need 16" with bolt pattern 5x114.3
I found someone selling rims with those exact specs and he said they're OEM and came with the car when he bought his 2010 mazda 3. I don't know if its a sedan or hatch. Do I need to find out?
My question is: Will these fit and how do I know? What other specs should I be using to ensure it'll fit? I would be buying used from private sellers so there won't be any returns/exchanges...
Much thanks!!

Hatch/sedan doesn't matter. If they're off of another Mazda3, you're pretty much guaranteed a fit.
As far as other steel rims go, aside from the 16" minimum size, along with bolt pattern, the only other crucial thing is center bore diameters. You just have to make sure they're at least 67.1mm. Offsets for general steel rims are usually pretty conservative so nothing to worry about there.
Hope that helps

Youve been around long enough to know we have a "will it fit thread!"
You should be good as long as the offset is under +35. Green paint could be cause issues with fitment

vibration issues are improperly balanced wheels. you will be fine depending on the widths and offset

Thanks a lot for the detail and explanation. I can ask about the center bore diameters...hopefully he knows. Is it stated anywhere (on the rim or a sticker or something)??
Even though its a mazda 3, I thought there might be a difference due to the year of vehicle. So ALL years share the exact same rim specs?

Yea a lot of Kijiji ad owners won't know that amount of detail, unfortunately. You mentioned they were from another Mazda3 though. If that's the case, I'd say you're good to go. If it fit their 3, it'll fit your 3.

+1.
When the data isn't available from the seller, you have to get more creative sometimes. When it's an OEM wheel, figure out what the normal bore sizes are for that make/model. Aftermarket wheels are usually made to be universal (more variations affects the bottom line) and will often have a bore of 70+ mm so they fit everything with adapter rings (the exceptions being some replica OEM wheels which are made to fit only certain brands).

I just pulled the trigger on a new set of tires. Been doing a lot a research because I want to go wider and needed to see if they would fit. I've purchased a set of Nitto Invo 255/30/19 to replace my 235/35/19 Sumitomo's. I scored an incredible deal online so I had to jump on these now, even though I could have gotten another year out of the Sumitomo's. They will be mounted on my 19 X 8.5 45mm wheels. My current set up has me running 5mm spacers all around, from my research I will probably keep the spacers up front to clear the strut. The rear i'll probably have to remove and maybe a slight roll of the fenders. I guess I shall see what happens.

My girlfriend drives a 2009 City Golf. currently sits on 195/55/r15's - we are looking for summer wheels and some popped up that are 225/55/r17 - should fit just fine at stock height right?
Obviously will do a test fit first but just curious as i'm awful with wheel sizing.

I must be missing something, I ran 17x9 +35 with 205/45 on the rear of my 07 sedan. Needed a light roll.
Now 17x8.5 +30 on the front is only a half inch wider than the 17x8 +30 I had, so marginally you should be ok. Did a very minor phone-book fender pull to make mine work.

2010 Mazdaspeed3 - Stock
I'm quite comfortable with wheel fitment in the Honda and Subaru scene, but I'm a Mazda wheel virgin. Either way, my goals are to gain some legitimate traction. I'm not looking to lower, stretch, pull or anything ridiculous. For now. From what I can tell, I should be fine with either, although I may need a slight roll in the rear. Yes, I will be poking an additional 12.5mm - 14.5mm. Anybody have first-hand experience of the following?
18x8.5 +38 - 245/40/18 (Stock Evo X specs)
OR
18x9.5 +40 - 235-245/35-40/18
I'm definitely leaning towards 18x8.5 +38 - 245/40/18, unless we can manage an 18x9.5 +40 - 235/35/18.
Anybody in the KW Region have wheels in this size, willing to allow a test fit?
Thanks!

it's not the stretch that's the issue. It's more that with the size of the wheels wells in the 2nd gen Speed 3, you can get a lot more rubber on the road, even with an 8.75" wide wheel.

kidding, you'll be alright clearance wise with either of those, but tires will be pretty meaty... for 8.5 I'd recommend 225, but it sounds like you know what you're after.

Are you lowered? Will you be lowered?
If stock height, no issues at all
FD22 thanks man, if I go with a 225/40 that will be a little stretched eh? If I ever decide to do Racing Beat springs I would have to get a lot of camber adjustments too right?

225/40 would be a bit of a stretch, yes. But nothing unheard of at all. It'll give it a nice look.
If you do RB springs, you'd likely have some camber adjustments to do. It really depends on each car, and changes from situation to situation, but with those specs, I'd say there's a good chance you'll need some camber arms in the rear. Not to mention a possible fender roll. Again, just speculation, can't say for sure.
Ya I already have a lowered truck, so I'm not overly crazy about lowering this one too. I like the 3 though great gas mileage and corners like a beast. It's just all about exhaust and wheels for this one I'm thinking

Besides a big stretch on a big side wall? Yes.
Get 215/35 for sportlines or 215/40 and a roll of the fenders is a must.
215/35 on a 17..????? ya smokin something
What i'm getting from this is really mixed. Am i able to do it with a fender roll, or would i actually have to swap tires, which isn't ideal.
Original question:
gen 1
17 x 8.5 +30
205/45 tires
yellows
possibly switching to sportlines.
any issues?

Lowered - about 1.5"-2.0"
Wheel size - 17"
Wheel Width - 8"
Wheel Offset - +45
Tire Size - 205/50/R17
Camber - Stock
Spacers - None
I have a couple of questions,
1) I'm ordering from 1010tires.com since it seems to be the only online dealer I could find that is Canada-based, when I searched for packages, those rims with those tires came up. Will the 205 tire-width be enough for 8" rim-width because the 205 tire-width is for the stock 17x6.5 +52.5mm mazda 3 oem rims?
2) What would be an ideal tire size?
3) Will this fit?
4) Will I rub a lot? I'm trying to go for little to no rubbing at all.

There is little to no chance of rubbing unless you're super low. Those tires are fine on 8" wide rims.

I chose that because I got too afraid of rubbing when I'm driving fast and accidentally running over pot holes. I just ordered the wheels and tires 2 minutes ago, haha, I just wanted to rip that bandaid fast :S If in a case in which I need spacers, I actually am currently running spacers with my rims right now

Either move to 17s, or get aftermarket shocks that are better matched to your lowering springs. Sometimes helps tame the ride.

How wide are the rims? Sorry, can't remember specs of 350Z's and too lazy to look it up lol. If it's 8", no poke at all. 8.5" will probably sit close to flush with the fenders on gen2's (not too familiar with the gen2's myself). I believe your rear fenders are a bit wider too, so if those are the sizes, my guess is you'll be just inside the fenders for both front and rear. Like you said, it's as easy as slapping some spacers on and you're set. You definitely won't have too much poke though, so don't worry about that. The RX8's are an even more conservative setup, at 18x7 (or 7.5?) and +50. So Id definitely go with the 350Z's :)

I've picked up RX8 rims and I've been doing some searching. Most people say 225/45/18 fits fine on stock suspension and even on prokits there is no rubbing. Does that sound right to most? A friend of mine told me to just do 225/40/18 and although the tires are cheaper i feel like it would just leave me with about the same gap as i currently have. Anyone with a gen2 mazda and RX8 rims want to chime in?

But this sounds about right indeed. You could also go to 225/40 and get marginally less fender height to ground due to the smaller tire height.

225/40 is a more righter size than 225/45, but you will have a larger gap between the tire and fender line.
In the end it's up to you but I think a 45 profile on 18's is weird. Then again, I'm on 205/40's on 17's so what do I know.

Just bought rx8 rims and 225/40/18 rubber.
I have a gen2 sedan gt and know that I do not want to increase the circumference of the wheel thus stealing what precious hp I have.
I plan on lowering on spring - gen2 sportlines or gen1 pro kits.
My decisions are based on daily driver and wanting a more aggressive look. I too considered 45s but did not want to sacrifice performance with larger wheels and more weight.

215/35 for those. roll and slight pull necessary
love the aggressive offsets becoming more popular

Yes I am. I like the stock rims on the 2013. All I wanted to know is if they would fit properly without falling off at high speeds.
