okay so i plugged in the AP and did two 4th gear logs in this beautifull weather we have today:like

the map i am running is the OTS mazdaspeed cai2 91 octane + tip....

now the reason i guess i have this map flashed is because after reading and doin some homework we use an ots mao as a baseline for our tuning needs and the best way to do it is to find a map that is most applicable to your modifications..now, i dont have a hpfp yet but i am ordering the internals within a week or so....let me know what you guys think, any advice would be greatly appreciated!! i am a noob in the tuning world but wanna learn how to tune my car! thanks!

noticed about a 12 second delay from the time you started logging to the time you put your foot down. What were you waiting for?

also, have you downloaded ATR as yet?

you should go in and turn the knock sensor up to 6750 rpms, that way you know if you're getting any knock in the high end

lmao i was doing the pulls on the onramp to the high way and i was waiting for the cars ahead of me to get far enough ahead of me so that i can pull off the run lmao and yes i have atr but i honestly do not know how to use it at all and i am the type of learner where i cant read shit then try to do it i have to have someone do it infront of me so to speak but i am gonna try to understand as much as i can

EDIT:nvm i figured it out, now i just save the map and then what? reflash it to the AP and then to my car?

Yup, once you make changes on the ATR save it to the AP then reflash it to your car

okay so i set the knock sensor to 6750 and went for another pull thanks for the tip loki lmao i got some knock in the top end :bang

It seems you let off a bit near 5700 rpm and that knock may have been from that. Also that knock is very little and it shouldn't be much cause for concern.

agreed. when you let off is when you saw the 1.05 kr

at the end of the log I see your boost spiked as high as 19.7 psi

yea its weird when the car was stock the boost would spike to 20-21 psi now it rarley does and when it doesn spike it will only jump up to 19..well..thats the highest i have seen it spike since i flashed the tune...i also think i may need a mafg calibration but with this cold weather i will have to wait..plus i just picked up my new cobb shifter so i might just do both at the same time..and yea boostin it is totally a diffrent car after the flash

okay so last night i did a couple maf logs before i went bowling just to try it out and see what i have to do... now these are my first three maf logs, let me know what you guys think.. i think if i can get some feedback it will help me out...i have been reading up on fobio's modding guide and i just wanna prepare myself for the spring when i actually start to tune for now its just prep time;)

fast_dude your constructive critisisim is astounding and as soon as i get the tuning portion down pact i will be going bt dont worry;) btw love the pink fog lights they suit you:p

and loki in about two weeks i am ordering the internals if not sooner

yes.. stock DP a test pipe and the MS cbe but the owner before me cut off the muffler and replace it with a three inch pipe..

part throttle knock... shouldn't be too concerned with that. if you got KR that high at WOT, then worry.

holy effing knock..i am thinking because i dont have the fuel pump internals yet is why i am getting the knock in the top end..what do you guys think?

EDIT: i know i didint start from 2000 rpms..stupid me!

Plotted your number 4 log on Virtual Dyno. I put you down as weighing 180lbs so its assuming I'm driving the car ;)

Anyways, its looking pretty good for a stage 1 OTS tune.

This log also showed a max KR of 1.05*. This isn't a big deal.

woot 252 whp hahah the thing that weirds me out is when i first dyno'd my car with just an intake and exaust on the stock tune i put down 251whp lol so the tune only made a diffrnce of 1 hp?

Clearly an actual dyno and a virtual dyno are not going to be identical in results. Plus the Stage 1 tunes don't actually run more boost...so really the peak power is likely not to change too much but general area under the curve does.

You should only compare dyno numbers to dyno numbers. Even with dynos, if you want to do comparos, use the same dyno.

BUT, Virtual Dyno is quite good and is pretty accurate. I wouldn't discount it entirely and would use it as a tuning tool.

it was actually quite easy for me..but for someone who isnt too mechanically inclined its quite a difficult process...plus i took the whole pump apart and cleaned everything up so its like a brand new pump:)

EDIT: hmm i have a question is it possible to custom tune the stage 1 tune? as far as advancing certian parameters? or is it not worth it? and just wait till stage two to start tinkering with the map

Looking at his throttle position % and accelerator pedal position, why does his throttle position % go to 76% initially when floored then drop to 69% and gradually climb back up to 76%, while his accelerator pedal position is at 99% the whole time?

I have seem some logs where the throttle position goes and stays at 78% once WOT for the entire run?

You need to adjust the throttle tables to fix that.
