Hey guys,

I've noticed lately that when I turn my heat on I hear a very high pitch noisy and it's very annoying. Somtimes when the car is heated up it'll stop but today it remains there after 20mins of driving. And when I turn the ventilation off, the sound is gone. Anyone know if this is a known issue or caused by what?

Thanks in advance

video or sound clip? might be something that got sucked into the blower motor fan and is scratching it like a record player.

Don't know about Mazda but has this in my previous car. Nylon bearing of the ventilation fan. If it's the same you should affect the sound by changing the fan speed. Just a thought.

my AC fan has been ****ed up like that for a month or two now. It sounds like the bearing is spun and squeaks like crazy...so annoying that more often than not I just drive to work with no heat, or turn the radio up loud so I cant hear it. Will take this up with Mazda when the car goes for its 24k service next week.
Disappointing for 2011. While I still love it, thus far I haven't exactly been blown away by quality of my new Mazda. Cheap windshield glass, busted AC fan, all sorts of squeaks and rattles....

I'd have to hear an audio clip of your problem to say its an identical sound, but your description sounds awfully similar...

I would check the cabin air filters before considering a problem with the fan motor. The filters should be replaced at least once a year and are very easy to do.

Hmm good point, but my car is 5-6 months old tho...

I cant pull up your clip but your description sounds like it is your blower fan. I took my wife's car to the shop for regular maintenance and my mechanic took it for a test drive and said a high pitch noise is coming from the blower fan. I asked if I should replace and he said a good rule of thumb is if you can hear is over normal radio play you should replace it.

If its under warranty get it checked at the dealership.

Hope this helps

it's worth looking at, in my last car the fan motor starting making a clicking sound on when it was on.

Sure enough the filter was clogged and some leaf debris got through.

Hey I tried to open it but can't find it. I removed the 2 screws on the left side and in side if it is a metal piece....

after driving me crazy for several months, the fan miraculously stopped squeaking 2 days before my 24K service. Hasnt returned since...hopefully it never does.

Looks like a trip to the dealer, or you can remove the fan and clean it to see what's up.

it may just go away on it's own in time. It's up to you at this point.

I used the AC in my car yesterday for the first time and noticed this high pitch sqealing sound. I had only used the heat until yesterday and the heat never made that sound. So I tried the heat as well yesterday and it is also making that sound now.
My car is 2 months old. 3500KM on it.

Sorry for necro, but any of you guys ever replaced your blower motor/fan? I am having the same issue. My dealer wants $125 just to diagnose. I'm pretty sure it is the blower fan. Is it easy to replace in 2nd gen Mazda's? Anyone know the part #?
