Hi guys,

My question is:

For those with experience using one particular bushing vs. the other, and for those who just so happen to know about these materials, will the winter months and all the goodness that comes with them cause issues with urethane motor mounts vs. rubber?

I have a cp-e rmm with rubber bushing and I don't worry since we have rubber stock from Mazda, but I have seen a picture of a urethane mount bushing which was supposedly used in harsher environments, and it looked very bad. I am thinking of getting Sure mounts for the rest of the engine eventually, so I want to know if there will be issues come winter time and the salt etc. acting on the urethane. Perhaps the front 2 mounts are not really affected by the elements as much?

Edit:
Here's a link to one funky urethane bushing in a Sure rmm. Although the member is from Texas, I can only assume the salt would make it worse in Canada no?

i had urethane bushings in my last car for about 3 years during winters and all and never had a problem with them or the bushings needing to be replaced.

To my knowledge, with dealing with harsh environment with urethane and rubber, it's not going to break down any faster than what the stock would. The salts and temperatures in Canada are well within the limits of the materials for both rubber and urethane. My longboard experience with urethane kinda pushes me to think that the stuff is meant to last for a loooong time. I used to ride my boards in the salt and sand and the urethane on my wheels and bushings never cracked or dried out. The rubber on the other hand I don't know much about but I would only worry about rubber if it is organic rubber cuz then it might be a bit for vulnerable to the elements. I would just check on the RMM every once in a while to make sure its holding up fine.
