Just curious as the seat bottom portion for heated stopped working this winter sometime, this is the 3rd winter and have under 80,000km just wondering if anybody else has had this failure? I found it odd when the seat did work that I would start off at 5 and then once got toasty after 5-7min would turn it down to 1 but then I would still end up turning it off after another few minutes as the heat was still to hot or the same as #5?? Could it be that there was an issue from day one as I just thought my Mazda heaters were crazy hot as my VW I could turn down the heat to 1 or 2 to maintain a subtle temp without shutting it off!
Can anyone with a Speed or GT-E feel a temp difference between 1 & 5 or are able to leave it on 1 without getting the over hot burning sensation with the heated seats, as my back still burns with it on 1 with a sweater on! Thanks for the help.

So.. this just happened to me, after nearly 6 years of owning the car. Apparently the wire connection for the bottom heating element has separated due to the stress of the seat being in constant use. This is admittedly not a big deal as the lower back portion still works, but I'm wondering if anybody else decided to get it fixed, and if so, how much you paid to fix it? Local dealer is quoting me nearly $500 to fix it... haha.

Thanks for the reply man! Unfortunately, it's the bottom portion (#BDY1-88-121) that is busted. I searched for it on that seller's ebay store and found this:

$270 cdn not including shipping wow. I'm guessing the broken wire can't just be reconnected?
