I noticed some spots on my driveway and it looks like my axle seal is going. my car is a 2011 speed 3 with 32K on it. Is this a known issue with the speed? Looks like im off to the dealer tomorrow or wed for some warranty work :(

Sure it's the axle seal vs a shock or strut?

My buddy jacked the car up and took a look. The oil is coming from the centre of the engine bay perpwndicular to the wheels. It appears to be coming from the axle seal. Not sure if the pic is helpful. Everything else around was dry. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/08/5a2y9equ.jpg

Inspect your CV boots closely. It looks like it could be a torn boot or a broken boot clamp. Your leakage is reminiscent of the leak I had when my inner clamp broke.

Verdict is in. Right front axle seal. covered under Warranty

Was it the inner or outer seal/clamp that broke? My inner seal broke for absolutely no reason!? Since I didn't know for sure how long the axle had been leaking, or how badly the cv joints had been exposed, I didn't take any chances and had the full axle replaced...Mazda did so, under warranty, with no arguments.
