With a regular 5-speed manual you release gas while press in clutch, shift, then release clutch while press in gas.

How do you do it with the 4AT manual mode?

Are you supposed to let go of the gas and then shift, or do you keep your foot on the gas and shift.

I searched the manual but I can\\\'t find any inromation on this.

just shift the gears, no need to let go of the gas.

The shifts happen in fractions of a second, holding down the gas to shift would have no difference.

Tiptronics never have to let go of the gas to shift. It is just an automatic, but you tell it when to shift.

Cool,

That\'s what I was thinking. The automatic takes care of the shifting so that\'s why you don\'t need to take the foot of the gas.

ya, the engine uses technology from an auto to work the tiptronic. Just like you don\'t have to lift your foot off the gas when an auto changes, neither do you have to when using the tip.

Is it a good idea to use engine breaking after the break-in period (or even during)?

you can use engine braking whenever, as long as the respective RPMs when you downshift don\'t go too high (I\'d say no more than 3/4 the way up the tach). The engine break-in has to do with the RPMs of the engine. Not speed.

One thing is certain, do not redline the car during the break in period.

Hehe, I think I\'d have to be really psycho to redline the car :)

I know, I\'m so tempted to do it everytime I\'m at a red light, but I\'m gonna wait a bit more.

I\'ve red-lined my test-drive model. It\'s not bad for the engine, if you don\'t do it often.
