View Full Version : What is a good price for a Mazda3 GT?

Hey Everyone...

I test drove a mazda 3 sedan for the first time this weekend, and really enjoyed it. The guy at the dealership even let me drive it without him coming along! Pretty sweet..

Any way, I need to know what is a decent price for the Mazda 3 GT Sedan (in blue or orange; haven\'t decided yet :)) with Auto/Air/GFX Package/Sunroof. The price he quoted me was $28685 OTR with all taxes included.

Without the GFX package the price drops to $27463.

;)

If you could post how much you paid for your car (OTR with everything included) it would be a great help with the whole negotiation process for all of us new buyers..

Thanks!!

I got mine for $28500 OTR with tinted windows. There are people on this board got their GT w/GFX at a even lower price... keep trying.

Which dealership did you go?

I thought the sedan was much cheaper???

I got a GT Sport, with all options minus Auto and leather for $26,900 OTR.

If you look at the GX and GS sedans they are cheaper because they start with with the 2.0L engine and fewer options standard. Once you go to a GT sedan it has more options and the prices are more in line with the Sport.

I went to Burlington Mazda on Walker\'s Line. Apparently they sell as much m3\'s (or more) than some of the toronto dealerships. :)

Hey everyone, i went to http://www.carcostcanada.com, and looked up the dealer price of a Mazda 3 GT w/GFX and Auto. Here it is (this will save you the $30 or so it costs to sign up)..

New car dealer cost and incentive program pricing report
M.S.R.P Dealer Cost
2004 Mazda Mazda3 Sedan GT
Base Price $21,445.00 $20,014.00
Optional equipment selected
GFX package $1,095.00 $1,022.00
paint - metallic - velocity red/sunlight silver/titanium grey $105.00 $86.00
transmission - 4 speed sport mode AT $1,000.00 $933.00
Freight+PDI $925.00 $925.00
Air Tax $100.00 $100.00
Totals: $24,670.00 $23,080.00

23080*1.15 = $26542.

I think if i can get it for $27200 OTR it will be a great deal. What do you all thinK?

Considering my friend payed $24800 for his 2003 Toyota Corolla S (w/manual, sunroof, air), this isn\'t that bad of a deal (you get much more with the mazda 3 - 2\" larger wheels, nicer rims (imho), abs with ebfd. rear disc brakes (instead of drum), steering wheel audio controls, telescopic steering wheel).

I paid around $27,800, but that\'s with the mp3 player included. $27,200 sounds like a good price. Let us know if the dealer takes your offer.

thats a decent price

I paid 30,600

exactly same car as you but its black ...i had to pay 288$ admin/reg fee

and i got:

wheel locks
rust proof undercoat
extended warranty for 72 months/160000 k
all weather mats
couple bottles of mica black touch up paint lol

///M
07-28-2004, 02:12 AM
I got my Sport GT with everything apart from leather and tiptronic for just under $27000 OTR.

Grifter

I went the \"group buy\" route and came away with ~ $26,700 OTR. With the grad rebate (which I still have yet to see), the price is around $26,100. Mine\'s manual though, and no leather or MP3 player but with GFX. And that\'s with the admin fee and wheel lock charges included (couldn\'t talk my way out of those, but I figured the deal was good enough, might as well let them make a couple of bucks!) :D :D

Paid $26,457.40 OTR for the same vehicle less the auto... You probably have room to negotiate a slightly better price. See the guys at Oakville Mazda if you haven\'t already tried there...

Hi,

I am on the market for a Mazda 3 sedan.
Looking for fully loaded GS or GT+GFX AU ( no leather )
Can anybody give me a price range ( good deal ) ?

M

p.s. Why is the Sand Mica so rare? I love the light interior (reminds me of my old Audi A4.) - looks much more classy than the standard black :)

Xenon
08-18-2004, 09:31 PM
if you get the GT your interior will be lack, no matter what your exterior colour is.

Sand Mica is a rare colour because not many people like that colour. The most popular colour at the current time for GX/GS/GT (all trims) is Titanum Gray, followed by Sunlight Silver, followed by Velocity Red.

I do think, the the other colours... it goes Black, indigo, Sunset orange (GT/Sport Only, Discontinued for 05), White, Winning Blue (Sport Only) and Sand Mica being the least popular.

Welcome to the club, Kci! That sounds about right? It\'s exactly the same thing Grifter got I believe, and same dealer (myself too).

What colour did you get?

I remember when I was shopping for a car to negotiate around 93% to 94% of the MSRP price, especially on the Mazda3 as these things are selling like bread and the dealerships know it, thus they won\'t easily drop too much from the MSRP.

Sorry I am not able to give you a price range.

I do agree with you about interior colour; it\'s a different feel of classy. Black leather gives me an \"Executive classy\" feel whereas the cream (?) coloured leather interior feels more of a casual but rich/classy feel. :)

would it be fair to assume that a 3 Sport GT 5MT would cost roughly 22100 (same as above but minus auto and gfx but plus A/C) and that comes to 25.5k invoice+tax with MSRP being 21.5k+1k(a/c)+1k(pdi)+200 = after taxes 27.3k
thx

Heya Michaelsoft, sweet price! I think now is even more difficult to get a discount of $900 since there\'s practically a shortage of the cars. Did you have much trouble negotiating the final price?

hey wtom,

Nope, no problems negotiating the price. I kinda played the waiting game with a couple dealerships at the time I was buying the car. Then luckily at the right moment I recieved some info from one of my buddies regarding the invoice prices it was time to reel the sales dude in. I think the sales dude I was working with needed to make some sales. When he called me back I gave him the numbers, he agreed. End of story.

No pressure to purchase dealer service packages like rust proofing, fabric/paint protection, extended warranty? Your experience sounds like a very good one. Did you get a bottle of champagne when picking up your car? :D

haha yeah, Buddy manager went crazy on me for those packages, said I needed to have them or something bad will happen. I just told him no or I\'ll think about it. Not to say I didn\'t want those packages, just not at dealership prices. Extend warranty I can get later if I need it. I got Krown for my rust proof and Scotch Guard for my fabric protection. I\'m not sure about that extra paint protection, but I figure waxing my car annually should be okay. Buddy was so pissed when I left the room. At least the sales guys was happy he finally got a sale.

LOL smooth on your part! Kept your cool and just let the mgr get all fed up and on the edge of a heart attack. I believe the paint protection is similar to a wax job... not lifetime, that\'s for sure.

Hey everybody! This is my first time on this message board, and boy, am I happy I discovered you guys now!! I\'m looking to lease a 2005 Mazda3 GT GFX (auto, no leather, Black) and I\'ve been to 3 dealers in the Toronto area, and they\'ve each sketched me out. I want to trade in my beat up 93 Mx-6 Mystere, and can put some money down, if only to lower the monthly burden. The best quote I\'ve received so far is: $331/month, 48 month lease (incl. warranty for the whole term), 3000 down (incl. tax, etc...), 7.6% lease financing (!!) and $2000 on the trade in. Oh, and I get the grad credit too, which I want to put towards a spoiler.

Any advice on GTA dealers that are decent (if any exist), on leasing, or on whether this deal is somewhat legit would be totally appreciated. Thanks!

i wouldn\'t trade in a car you own AND put 3000 down on a lease.

you\'ll probably get a better deal by financing over 60 months (if monthly payment is your concern). $5000 down on any month financing term is quite a chunk off the monthly payment.

word of advice ...NEVER negotiate based on the monthly payment. ALWAYS negotiate on the selling price of the car and then figure out the options for leasing and financing.

if you\'re going to lease, put nothing down as that is just giving away money. there\'s a thread on here about leasing and financing you can search on for more info. basically, if you can claim the lease in income tax, do so....if not, think about other options.

and welcome to TM3 :)

Maybe try Avante? I got a 2005 Mazda3 GT GFX (auto, no leather) I am paying 330/month, 48 month lease. I also traded in a car as well and got $4000k I put 0 down. Perhaps you can get a better deal there. Just from the looks of it it\'s a $1k difference.;)

I faxed my quote for a Mazda3 GT sedan w/GFX and Auto to pretty much all the 905/416 area dealers. The price I got was pretty much similar near the low $27,XXX mark.

27,250 <--- not sure about this one though kinda low.
27,480
27,500
27,550
27,600
27,900
28,174
... a couple of 28,XXX

Stick with the volume dealership and I think you can swing some freebies in there. ;)

I finally ordered with Prima. GT/Auto/GFX no leather

Avante had no trouble giving me the same deal.

fully loaded SHOULD mean the GT + sun + GFX + every OPTION you can get (not ACCESSORY - like lug nuts that sometimes are thrown in)

also fully loaded GS would be GS with ALL available packages - although u\'d be better getting a GT then..

A/C is standard for GT sedans
Moonroof is only offer in the GFX package on the GT sedans.

A/C is an option for the Hatch, so is the moonroof.

Go get a brochure its much easier to figure it out, even better go to Mazda.ca and use the car builder link.

for that you would pay $26900 OTR MSRP!!!

21500 car
900 leather
1000 pdi+taxes

26900 OTR (roughly)

now if you opted for A/C or Auto tranny then MSRP (no haggling) price is what you mentioned above.. 28000

2005 Mazda 3 Gt
Titanium grey
GFX package
cloth
5 spd.
window tinting
no extended warranty or rustproofing etc.

$24,600 with a $1000 trade in.
$24,100 when I get the grad rebate.

Bought from Erin Mills Mazda. Not too bad of a deal, but horrible dealership experience. I would not recommend them to my enemies.

26,800 is pretty good, especially with Avante\'s promotion. Most people pay this much or more and dont get the extended warranty. You might still be able to get them to throw in some floor mats or a cargo net or something.

If your financing that\'s a great price, if cash its a good price....take it and run but see if they\'ll throw in some things like mats, locks etc;

I don\'t believe tinting your windows will void the warranty..I can\'t think of what part of the warranty it would void.

Its good your dealership didn\'t offer tinted windows. Erin Mills Mazda told me tinting was $499 + tax. I laughed and asked if they were joking. They wern\'t. Wherever you go ask to see samples of their work and make sure its warrantied. If they want more than$325 taxes in, go elsewhere.

Jeff-TheBiz

Just some info..

Tinting does not void your warranty or affect your lease unless it affects the legallity of the car (too dark etc.)
As for tinting at a dealership... they all out-source and over charge.

I dont know of a dealership that does it in house. better off to get a good deal and then tint it on your own, where you feel comfortable.

Just about to close the deal (just have to fax the signed papers back) on my new 3! Getting the Mazda 3 Sport GT, 5 sp, a/c, in Arctic White. OTR price came out to $26,123 (including PPSA and license transfer) as well as the extended warranty and 100$ gas card. Took the advice on the board and went through Avante Mazda. Unfortunately for Jeff on this board(still not sure if he works off comission), I didn\'t read his posts until I had already started dealing with Noah. Noah was great until I called back yesterday to finalize everything, only to find out he\'s no longer with Avante! Anyway, I\'m dealing with Claudio now and he seems great so far.

Though Richmond Hill is well out of the way for me (I\'m downtown), none of the closer dealers could match the price Avante offered.

Another happy customer here. Can\'t wait to get my 3!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention I\'m financing over 60 months, with 0 down.

:hoho 60 mths financing! I guess u\'ll really need some lucks on spending the last yr, coz from my previous experience (I have drove 3 generations of Protege serie cars), and none of them will last more than 4 yrs without a significant investment on repairs, or parts quality things.

jmaggs
06-10-2005, 07:37 PM
Not worth making a downpayment when interest rates are only 3.9%! As far as not lasting more than 4 years without a major repair, that\'s a troubling thought. Having the 4 year extended warranty makes me feel a bit better about it though. My Civic\'s 6 years old, 166k km\'s and I haven\'t invested a single penny in non wear-and-tear repairs (brakes, tires, oil changes, belts, regular services, etc.). I guess this is only the second year of production for the car, so reliability at this point is pretty much unknown past the 2 year mark!

Congrats on your new car!

Hi all, this would be my first post here although I\'d been hovering the forums for a while now... learned quite a bit!

I\'ve decided to lease an MZ3 for quite some time now and if all goes well, I will be doing that soon. I have been shopping around for the best rates anywhere from various mazda dealerships to 3rd party leasing companies. I will be settling for nothing less than a GT Leather w/ GFX regardless of the wait times.

My question to those who have been in my shoes recently is a question about prices. I\'ve never leased before and my original intention was to put as much down as I can (I think mazda lets you get away with up to 25% of the car) so that I get the cheapest monthly rates. I\'m looking for $270ish after everything.

Anyway, there are so many factors in getting a good deal as I\'ve learned. A few of which are:

1. total price of the car
2. leasing period
3. leasing rate
4. amount down
5. residual value percentage
6. freight/pdi/taxes

It\'s very tough balancing all these factors to maximize savings. For example, putting more down will lower my monthly payments but apparently I\'d have to pay taxes on that amount. Also, if I put a large amount down, I will want to get the most out of the car by keeping it longer which implies more months and more money...

I\'m trying to tackle this one step at a time. For starters, most of the quotes I get revolve around $23500 before taxes after PDI. So the big question is, what is a good deal on a GT/GFX/Leather? How much should I put down to maximize savings?

My next step is to visit Avante soon and get yet another quote... hopefully my last.

Any feedback would be greatly valued. Thanks!

Only advice I can give you is do not tell the salesperson you want to lease, tell him or her after you finalize a price. For some reason if they know it is harder for you to get the lowest price.
Also do not put any money down, use their money.
For a GT<GFX<AUTO<SEDAN the price shold be around $23,500 or lower before taxes.
As for the other concerns do some research first. Get the Lemon Aid book, join Car Help Canada ($55.00 to join), Car Canada etc. Do some internet searching. Read and I DO mean read the contract carefully, all the fine print on the back. You can get one from the dealer, ask for a lease contract, and walk out. I was thinking of leasing but with the low interest rate it made more sense to buy, but thats just me.
Good luck.
Let us know how you made out

well, i gotta add to this, it was a cool thread.

we bought the 2005 mazda i, sedan, 2.0 liter, 16 inch alloys, with wheel locks, the power/abs package which means the airbags all around, power everything, automatic, single cd, velocity red mica which is awesome in the sunlight. also paid the maintenance thing which is all oil changes and tire rotations. we got it for $18,000 U.S. out the door. dont know how that compares to canadian money. suggestions, which most of you probably already know:

dicker a little bit, but when you get to YOUR rock-bottom price and the dealer is higher, just say \"thanks, but let me see what X dealer will do for me\" and get up and walk away, they will chase you down and give you what you want.

show him you dont NEED to buy a car, you were just thinking about it, you will have more leverage.

know what your credit is, we checked our credit score the night before we went to the dealer, we knew it was excellent but we brought the paper to the dealer. let him know he needs us we dont need him.

dont let them scare you and also say \"no dealer fees\".

All very good hagglging advice folks. I realize that many of these sales associates have quotas to meet and I sorta feel bad for them for working under such pressure. At the same time, it\'s a huge purchase and they should honor the purchaser\'s situation.

I went to Avante Mazda today and got the full treatment from Jeff who was a pleasure to deal with. I can clearly see why it is so highly recommended.

I find the whole deal to be relatively painless, it\'s a low-stress dealership unlike many others\' I\'ve been to.

All along, I was under the impression that the car had heated seats with GFX leather. I learned that 2005 models do not... it was a disappointment. I further explored the 2006 options only to learn that everything I wanted in the MZ3 (heated leathers, trip nav computer, outside temperature and compass) were all included in the 2006\'s. I had no choice but to book one and bite the bullet on the waiting.

Incidently, I also saw a gorgeous MZ3 somewhere with the Axela emblem. The door handles were silver, the side markers were wrapped in silver lining, it was very unique... I enquired about those options and learned they are unlisted accessories that can be installed by the dealership.

I\'m ultra-excited waiting for my turn to come. I\'m being told late August (as late as late September) for the 2006\'s to make their appearance. As soon as I find out pricing, financing, and leasing rates for the 2006, I\'ll post it here and let everyone know.

It\'s been a great first couple of steps, feeling good... big thanks to everyone and a bigger thanks to Jeff!!

Does this mean that the Nav Computer is finally available in Canada? And if so, would it be available to purchas through a Dealer as an after purchas accessory? And will it fit into the 2005 model?
And... am I asking too many questions??? (lol)

Little point on the Nav system that is available in the USA.(but not yet in Canada)

The price is about $800 USD if I am not mistaken, but there is a monthly fee much like \"onstar\"

The nav on the RX8 is $3000.00 but is free to use when ever you want. it is DVD Rom based which means you can also ugrade every couple of years with a new set of maps (Approx $100 for the DVD)

dont let them scare you and also say \"no dealer fees\".

Or, you could just come to Avante... :)

Very strange to hear anyone charging for some sort of navigation system. GPS is a freely available public service after all... Unless you\'re talking about the underlaying map engine in which case a subscription fee would make sense.
Personally, nothing ever beats a laptop with Mappoint and a GPS :)

dicker a little bit, but when you get to YOUR rock-bottom price and the dealer is higher, just say \"thanks, but let me see what X dealer will do for me\" and get up and walk away, they will chase you down and give you what you want.

$18,000 American is about $22,000 Canadian

Hey all, have just joined the Mazda3 club as my 2005 M3 came in a couple days ago. Thanks to this board and this thread for pointing me to Avante Mazda. It really was a pleasant experience to buy there...I can\'t recommend them enough.

FYI, here are my car and pricing details:
2005 Mazda 3 GT 4dr w/GFX
winning blue
manual transmission
rear spoiler
$25600 OTR

I\'v been out of school for several years so no grad discount for me :p

Hi all,

I\'m a newbie to this site, getting ready to purchase a Mazda 3 GT GFX.

Just wondering if somebody can post and share the results a carcostcanada query for the MZ3 Sedan GT GFX.

I\'m going to try for $27,000 OTR - is this reasonable ? Do you think I have room to ask for freebies too ? (tints, wheel locks, mats, rust proofing).

Also wondering if anyone has the undercarriage sparying done on new cars these day (helps to protect car and dampen road noise).

BTW - should I ask for the 2006 instead of 2005 ? Is there a major prie difference ?

Thanks for any help you can provide :)

auto or manual?
any extended warranty?

Jeff-TheBiz
08-05-2005, 10:42 AM
At this point in the game, car cost can\'t help you. Reason being the cars are getting harder and harder to get.. Dealerships that are giving a \"great\" deal are returning the deposit due to no available cars. Or they are trying to move people into a different colour, or package..

Just buy where you trust and feel confortable.

In my experience the best deals are when there are a lot of cars available. supply vs demand..

Mazda 3 GT w/ GFX AUTO (Warranty - not sure)

I checked at a couple of dealers. They seem to have some stock at the moment.

RE: the Extended warrenty - is it worth it to buy this ?
I bought an extended warranty before on a used Chrysler car and found it to be extremely restrictive.

Thanks again for your comments.

what kind of reasoning is that? no matter what it is you should clarify that you have 12mths/20000km to purchase it at the going rate. any time/km over that you pay EXTRA (like with lease when you go over the kms)..

MAZ, people get extended warranty for better resale value or if they intend to keep the car longer than 3-4 years.. it\'s really up to you but as Jeff mentioned, a new tranny costs $9000!!! so ~$1500 extended warranty pays for itself 6 times.. obviously you always hope everything will be honkey dory but shit happens.

Fuman, please stop posting \'hear-say\' shit - it\'s been happening in a lot of threads (eg. here, coilovers, \'synth\' oil.. etc) \"i think it\'s this i think it\'s that\"

every time you say XYZ someone has to correct you. you never argue your point which MAY (or may NOT) be valid.. come on, grow a spine or just comply like you do now.. I think it\'s better not to post if you\'re just going to confuse people.. how many times is Neil going to post same stuff over and over about oil? it\'s tiresome.. Maybe you know the answers, and that\'s great - share with us, but there\'s nothing worse than being a \'jack-of-all-trades\' where you know a little of everything and confuse the issues..

Are there any Mazda 3 GT GFX out there in Carbon Grey ?
The dealer is reporting that there are none left :(

I\'m not sure MAZ...My dealer said there are 3 Carbon Gray\'s in GFX left, but that was a week ago and they\'ve yet to get back to me with a firm answer that they\'ve got the car. Last week - \"We can get you one in 10 days\". This is the same dealer that told me they\'d have no problem getting me a Winning Blue Sedan GT w/GFX. Seems like they have no problems getting you to sign the papers...but when it comes to delivering the car, a completely different story. If this falls through again, Jeff expect to hear from me once the 2006\'s are out...

I have plenty of 2006s coming.. approx 3 weeks.

But there are already some spoken for. Can\'t wait to see one in the Snow Flake White.. Starting to wish I waited...

BTW, I finally get my Blue one back tomorrow. Our Body Shop said it will look as good as new, I will post some pics.

I picked it up on Saturday (yesterday); it had 9km on it! I bought from Scarboro Mazda.
I\'m in love, i can\'t stop looking at it *g*

i couldn\'t get the GS in Titanium that i wanted, and i got the last GT sedan they had and it\'s silver; I\'m quite pleased with it and happy i ended up with the silver instead.
