Can anybody recommend a good dash cam that is relatively small(don't want something bulky) as i want to have two of them, for the front and rear of the car.
Budget is about $100 at the most for one.

This is what I use for a few months, solid.

I had a budget dash cam from ebay and hated it. Glitches, random shutdowns, corrupted clips and illegible plates in day and night, etc. Obviously there are good ones and bad ones but I ended up getting the Panorama II and love it. It's $200 but well worth it if you consider how much it would save you in case of an accident or an insurance fraud attempt.

Ah shit, I just heard your car was the one that got rear-ended. How bad is it? :(

yeah! gawd damn prius must've not been paying attention because there was kinda traffic but he hit me hard for my head unit to pop out a bit and to leave his license plate number marked on my bumper, but thankfully it was just the bumper and trunk that got damaged.

Kinda of the reason why i am looking for dash cam.

I second this one. It's a bit bigger. If you don't know it's there, it's not really noticeable. I have it mounted on my front window. You'll want to get a 32GB card though. 5.5 hours of recording with 32GB at 1080P. It's not a bad camera. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/26/eguhahem.jpg
You can barely see it to the left of my rear view mirrors.

That is truly shitty about your car. I hope you're alright, any whiplash or anything? I'd see a doctor, or chiropractor to make sure everything is alright.

Sorry, didn't mean to quote, meant to edit.

My bad.

I don't really have issues with corrupted files, I know with mine if I have the g-sensor set to sensitive it will think I'm in an accident whenever the bass hits. It has a weird way of recording and storing files, but once you understand it, it's not so bad.

This one will probably be a good recorder for you, I love it for the front and no complaints on space.

I have the iROAD IONE-3300CH Real HD 2-Channel with gps and power management device. It was purchased and installed by Lockdown Security.

So far the camera is awesome and the web player is very user friendly :)

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I just wanted to know if you two gentlemen are still using this camera, and if so how has it been?

I'm going to buy one in the next week and just wondering if I should go with a higher end one.

For the price of this one however, I had to ask lol.

Thanks - but that is a little outta my price range haha. When I say higher end I meant like $200... not double that!

Ahh great, so it seems to be pretty durable. For the price, you can't go wrong from the reviews I've seen/read.

Thanks!

I have the G1W mentioned initially in the thread running for a year now, no problem, no hassle.

I even picked up another G1W-C which has a capacitor instead of battery. for the rear of the car.

Total cost $110 for both cams. You will see the quality in the dashcam thread.

ottoyu34 how do you like the g1wc? Thinking of getting one myself. How is the motion detection? Do you have it hardwired?

I prefer it over the G1W as the my 1 year old G1W battery is pretty much dead. Capacitor should be more resilience to extreme temperatures. Nothing special as both of mine have been solid and always in my car. They aren't hardwired.

ottoyu34 Did you hide the cord at all? Where do u plug it in so it records at all times?

Last q, which vendor did you buy from? There are several with various prices

Absolutely, you don't want that blocking your sight. See the video I posted below.

12V lighter plug.

One is from estore009 on ebay another from gearbest both sell genuine models.

Awesome, thanks! How long does the capacitor last? I.e. Do you pick up motion from people walking by if plugged into cig lighter for a decent period of time?

It is designed to save enough energy to shut itself down without corrupting the video file.

If you looking for parking mode and motion detection features, I suggest look into high-end and more expensive cams.

In case someone is looking to get a dash cam, this sounds like a decent deal. Haven't tried it myself though.
