View Full Version : Biggest "mod" i have done to my car so far: Plasti Dipping Rims Orange (Netherlands!)

Lastnight i picked up 4 cans of plasti dip... Blaze Orange of course.

I decided to ride my stock 15"s one more season before upgrading, but still want to have some fun.

Not Lowered.. thats probably next , especially if the orange turns out silly with that wheel gap!!

I decided to do one rim only, while still on the car!

I do not advise this! Pain to tape up. almost an hour. Also, the coat wasn't to even, due to the angle i was forced to use. I only did this because i was "afraid" to take the wheels off without a torque wrench, but i think its the only way to go!

First time trying to get an image to come up on a post.. not sure if this will work (used facebook)

Ill take the 3 remaining wheels OFF... tonight and paint them on the grass or something :P

Couple things..

1. I love orange just as much as the next guy (okay okay, probably much more) but using Blaze colors on exterior stuff is not something I would recommend. The Blaze line of Plastidip tends to fade significantly. Just a heads up. It looks great, and I love how it pops being so bright and all, but just be warned that if you're using Blaze colors on something like rims, it won't stay that way for long unfortunately.

2. You'll probably be told to start up a ride thread where you can post this kind of stuff. Not a bad idea if you tend to do more after this. Which of course you will ;) haha

I can see what your talking about with your love for the color orange (your DP)!

I am probably only keeping it for a month during the world cup... it probably will look too tacky without the orange flags to accompany!

thanks for the tip though.

ill consider the ride thread. just have to find it first :P (new here!)

This x1000. did my GF's front grill Blaze Pink (thick coats, white base), it looked amazing.... for all of two weeks, now it is a weird orange color.

haha yea, I'm a little biased towards orange :P

Ah okay, well for that time period it should be just fine then!

Be sure to post up a pic once they're all done :)

i sprayed it with the wheel on. wont have that problem when i take the wheel off.

I got a question:

i only applied 3.5 coats... some spots are thin... is it too late to go back and add some more coats so it will come off easier when its time?

Loving the blaze colours. My wife has a can of Blaze Green, waiting to do her emblems and maybe some interior pieces..
